NBA Combine’s Winner and Losers

by @ 5:30 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

Yesterday, CBS Sports’ Jeff Goodman tweeted praise of Darius Miller after his NBA combine performance and today he expanded on the recognition. Goodman wrote an article listing the Winner and Losers of the entire event, and named Miller as one of the major winners in Chicago:

8. Darius Miller – I admit I pegged Miller as a future overseas guy prior to the year, but he’s progressed, matured and developed. Miller showed he can do it all at Kentucky — and did it again in front of all the NBA guys. He made shots from deep, provided consistent effort and also got after it on the defensive end. He’s likely the key to UK getting a record-setting six guys into the first round.

This bodes well for Darius getting into the first round, but more importantly, receiving a guaranteed NBA contract.

Goodman added that media was actually a loser at the event. He says that the ESPN guys had a stronghold on the court, and wouldn’t let any reporters in.

12) Media – I was fortunate enough to be allowed to watch as the “pool reporter”, but no other media members were permitted besides ESPN guys (they air the event). If the NBA wants to add interest to the event, it needs to allow writers and TV guys to watch. It sounds like that may happen next year.

If they start letting media in Corey and I have already decided that we are wearing high-top fades. Hopefully Nerlens and Ryan are still sporting them too, or we’ll look like fools.

Cats.

I’ve been saying all year that if Darius Miller isn’t a 1st rounder, then a bunch of teams are gonna have egg on their faces for missing him. Darius is a consummate team player that can flat out play the game.

You are a blogger, not media. Ok?

  3. Big Blue 66 Says:

I hope Goodman is right and would love to see Miller land in the first round, but I get so f ing tired of these so called sports bloggers and writers try to judge or scout talent, they dont know jack.

Corey should wear a dress so when I pound his ass in the comment section of his posts it will look a little bit better.

  5. tyson Says:

this isn’t a criticism of Darius, but instead one for Goodman. Did Darius show us anything different last year than he did the year before?

  6. Ethan James McCollum Says:

I always though Zeller was a tad overrated, and Miller a tad underrated.

    KENTUCKY EFFECT!

  8. HamnEggs Says:

As long as he comes outta the gate with the confidence it will take to assert himself on a given team and not revert to his passive play that was all too common, perhaps then he will have a good to decent career.

  9. Uk Homer Says:

5 – without looking at the numbers (and maybe I should), I feel like he was a lot more clutch from behind the arc than I remember from years 1-3
