[Moderated by Matt Jones, Drew Franklin and Tyler Thompson]

It’s Friday morning at the NBA Combine, which means it’s time for the players to take those shoes off and get measured for their actual size. Up until this point in their young careers, team media guides have exaggerated the hell out of their height, but the official NBA Combine tape measure never lies. This is where we get the real measurements, and where the liars are exposed.
Here’s how the Cats sized up at the combine:
Terrence Jones… 6′ 8.25″ socks /// 6′ 9.5″ shoes /// 7′ 2.5″ wing /// 8′ 9.5 reach
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist… 6′ 5.75″ socks /// 6′ 7.5″ shoes /// 7′ 0″ wing /// 8’8.5″ reach
Anthony Davis… 6′ 9.25″ socks /// 6′ 10.5″ shoes /// 7′ 5.5″ wing /// 9′ 0″ reach
Darius Miller… 6′ 6.75” socks /// 6′ 7.5” shoes /// 6′ 9” wing /// 8′ 6.5” reach
Marquis Teague… 6′ 1” socks /// 6′ 2” shoes /// 6′ 7.25” wing /// 8′ 2.5” reach
Doron Lamb… 6′ 3.25” socks /// 6′ 4.75” shoes /// 6′ 6.75” wing /// 8′ 3” reach

AD with a 7 foot 5.5 wing is stupid. Anthony Sr. and Erainer spit in nature’s face when they created him.

How many inches are MKG’s shoes??
June 8th, 2012 at 9:51 am
Gilchrist has some thick soles on his shoes
June 8th, 2012 at 10:03 am
So are the measurements figured up?
June 8th, 2012 at 10:14 am
MKG must have had on some 70′s pimp platform shoes, maybe he should have worn the matching hat and he would have been even taller.
June 8th, 2012 at 10:15 am
Mkg brought his platform shoes to the combine! And Darius wore flip flops
June 8th, 2012 at 10:19 am
MKG borrowed my shoes for the combine.
June 8th, 2012 at 10:25 am
No flip flops for Darius. His height in socks was 6′-6″ even.

It looks like Davis is trumped by Drummond from a pure specimen point of view. However, when on the court, things are different.
June 8th, 2012 at 10:28 am
- MKG has a ridiculous wing span.
- Darius Miller and Doron Lamb should’ve worn thicker shoes.
June 8th, 2012 at 10:43 am
So MT has a wingspan as long or longer everyone but AD?
June 8th, 2012 at 11:24 am
Terrence Ross only has 3.2% body fat?! That’s insane!
June 8th, 2012 at 11:25 am
I just want to know Sullinger, hes lied about his size for 2 years now
June 8th, 2012 at 11:57 am
what is the difference in wingspan and reach?
June 8th, 2012 at 12:11 pm
What about that FatMax? Best tape you can get.
June 8th, 2012 at 12:12 pm
Wingspan is stretch your arms out to the side and fingertip to fingertip. Reach is standing reach straight up.

Wow – AD has the highest body fat % of all our guys. That’s hard to believe.

Two things I’ll never understand about combine measurements:
1. How players can vary so much in the height they add with shoes. Some players get 2″, some don’t even get 1″. Such a big difference, and wouldn’t this just encourage players to wear shoes with big heels when they get measured? They should just add 1-1.5″ to height w/o shoes and call it height w/ shoes for consistency.
2. How a player can be taller and have a greater wingspan than another player, but have less reach. Exhibit A, Anthony Davis and John Henson. Davis is 1/4″ taller and has 1/2″ greater wingspan, but 3.5″ less standing reach compared to Henson. How can this be? Is Davis’ neck 4 inches longer than Henson’s or something?

18. That doesn’t surprise me at all. AD is actively trying to gain weight, so he’s bound to put on some fat with the added muscle. The other guys are just trying to add strength, so they have a leaner gain.
19. There is a bit of a flexiblity aspect to standing reach as well.

I never understood the ‘without socks’ thing. They play with shoes on.
