This Day in UK History: June 7, 2009…Billy Clyde Selling his UK Goods

Throughout the summer, we are going to revisit some of the posts of the past to see from where we came in this UK basketball program with a “This Day in KSR History”. Today, this post comes from June 7, 2009, with Billy Clyde just having left Lexington and odd stuff still surfacing:

Ok lets all be reasonable here for a second. Yes we wonder what is wrong with Billy Gillispie and if he officially lost it his last couple of months here. But he wouldnt do something bizarre like selling his UK clothes on Craigslist would he? I mean come on, no Kentucky coach would do that, right? Here is an ad placed on Craigslist earlier this week:

All authentic UK gear of Coach G various new and used items. Nike Shirts, Nike warmups, uk wool letter jacket, t-shirts, shorts, cutter and buck, and much more. Sizes range from xl to xxl. Prices vary – all his personal issued gear from uk.

Really? And one website (AllKyhoops) is claiming that they followed up with the ad and it is really for Gillispie’s stuff. Tell me I am dreaming and that a former Kentucky basketball coach is not selling the good given to him by his former University by a forum that is best known as a marketplace for old comic books and a forum to find a “casual encounter” in the city of your choice. A UK coach would never do that….would he?

i heard all the outerwear had flask pockets sewn in and hidden compartments for tiny unbrellas

  2. Head Bussa Says:

Link goes to a non-existant page on Craigs List.

  3. Matt Jones Says:

Because it was three years ago…

  4. Really Says:

yeah, it was some pretty good gear once you washed the vomit and beer out of it

  5. ...... Says:

    …Then why post the link…

  6. Matt Jones Says:

Because it was in the story from three years ago.

  7. Kentucky Gentleman Says:

Wow. Back then Matt admitted to getting things from other sites instead of passing it off as his own.

  8. Joe Walsh Says:

    I like big tits…that’s right!

  9. Sean Says:

You guys should be careful, pretty soon KSR may take away our ability to have discussions on his blog. Save the sexual and ridiculous comments for other places. This is a Kentucky sports site everyone. Let’s try to keep it somewhat classy and respectful. Please.

  10. Sean Says:

    *this blog.

  11. KyColonel Says:

I like the throwback story idea. I’d like to hear the post-game show from the Iowa St game (I think) from this years tournament. Almost every call was so horrible it was hilarious.

  12. Bradley Says:

Nothing about the ad whatsoever gives any reason to believe it Gillispie himself selling these items. Of course, why does that matter when Matt can just imply it is indeed BCG. Never seen anyone get so butthurt and hold such a grudge simply because someone called them out on their lack of basketball knowledge.

  13. Computer Blue Says:

    Worst. Hire. Ever.

  14. bluebiscuit Says:

When Billy Clyde came to UK, there was a big billboard ad near the intersection of Harrodsburg Rd. and Lane Allen with BCG’s mug on it, urging fans to go get their Billy-inspired sportswear at Dawahare’s. So I went to the Dawahare’s on Alexandria Drive, and was maybe the first customer to go in the place all month. I wish I could remember the slogans on the T-shirts. They all seemed corny and I didn’t buy anything. Probably all of that stuff got sold on craigslist too, when Dawahare’s went out of business.

  15. Jones Returns Says:

Would it be possible to create a KSR timeline similar to a facebook profile. It would be awesome to scan through the years and see the funniest photos and blogs that generated the most hits. Oh, you like the idea but don’t think you could afford the engineering of a website that would allow that capability? OK. No big deal. Just thought it was a cool idea. Sorry for brining it up.

  16. Chicago Chris Says:

Calling Craigslist a place to find comic books and hookups is like saying eBay is a great place to by Pez.

  17. Duke sucks Says:

billy Clyde will go down as the biggest fail ever in D-1 sports. No where has their been such a train wreck. From the interviews, binge drinking, game day practices, and recruiting grade schoolers. Not to mention the failure on the court. This guy didn’t have success at anything.

  18. I like PeZ Says:

I buy all my PEZ on eBay

  19. ebay Says:

Billy Gillespie Pez dispensers are hot items right now. We have them. We are great.

  20. jubrho Says:

Funny that the stuff goes up in value every year, thanks to Cal’s coaching.

  21. Yngvie Maumsteen. Says:

Wow. Still being obsessed with BG is not healthy. Move on already.

  22. Oldkentucky Says:

This blog wants its readers to be classy while it is anything but classy with BCG.

  23. Lou eaton Says:

Ugly stuff BUT I’ll still take him with all his worts over Tubby!!!
