Two Louisville Mainstays to Leave Courier Journal

In a move that has to be considered yet another sign of the rapid decline of Kentucky’s two major newspapers, Rick Bozich and Eric Crawford are leaving the Courier Journal for WDRB. They will work full time on the tv station’s website and network according to WDRB and will no longer work for the newspaper. Between the two of them, there are over 50 years of newspaper experience and both are longtime mainstays of the Louisville community. The two of them exiting the newspaper business for a local tv station is absolutely stunning, and showcases the tremendous changes ahead for the Courier Journal’s future.

We welcome Bozich and Crawford into the television game and congratulate them on the news.

Im sorry but one paula dean face is enough for tv…

  2. gossie21 Says:

So now we are going to have to watch WDRB to find out whether or not Calipari has “Pitino Envy” or to be educated on whether or not Louisville really does exist?

  3. KyColonel Says:

I should’ve come to KSR in the first place for this news. I’m down to 16 free page views at the Courier Journal now.

  4. Seabass Says:

With that face, Crawford might not be on tv very long.

  5. cats11 Says:

There’s something about Crawford’s face that makes me want to punch him.

  6. shelby Joe Says:

don’t care for either one in print, I’m sure I won’t like them on tv either. Nowe they’ll just be doing Jurich’s bidding on the air instead of in print.
Crawford always looks like he’s smelling a white castle cheeseburger fart.

  7. jus sayin Says:

This is a big deal. This officially kills the courier-journals already weak sports section

  8. watts422 Says:

Going to a station that was just cut by Time Warner doesn’t sound like a wise career move to me. Especially since most of the viewers from what I read think that WDRB’s greed is the reason.

  9. DrSayre Says:

Did anybody tell WDRB that Bozich likes to yell while other people are trying to conduct interviews on-air?

  10. Jack Cruse Says:

Great news!… Now theses two UofL and IU homers will have an even smaller audience!

  11. rainman Says:

With Insight not broadcasting WDRB, they’ll probably have less followers than
    the Curious Urenal!!

  12. Nick Says:

So their choice was (1) stay at a newspaper that most people won’t be able to read anymore or (2) jump ship to a TV station that most people can’t watch anymore. Brilliant!

  13. Tim in Korea Says:

But they have faces made for radio…

  14. UKBlue Says:

Why in the world would WDRB want to take on both of their salaries? I could understand hiring one of them, but both of them. I’m guessing they’re jumping ship not only because the CJ sucks, but because the CJ just hired Wesley Jackson as the new CJ President.

  15. Jim Says:

Good riddance Bozich. Quit taking cheap shots at UK.

  16. Miss Nomer Says:

Well that means their online subscriber scheme will prove a bust that much quicker.

  17. Crackerhillbilly Says:

There is an error in the article – the CJ has no future.

  18. HatersGonnaHate Says:

everyone hates on the CJ but yet they still go out to over 270,000 homes every Sunday/over 160,000 every week day. All the tv and radio stations wish they could get that kind of reach with just one of their programs. With that said, not sure why two employees leaving means to some of you that it will be the end of the company. The cj is losing market share but it’s funny that radio and tv both fail to mention their on short comings. Welcome to the fragmented media age of 2012 and beyond.

  19. Jeff Haag Says:

I have a ritual called “terminator”. I crouch in the shower in the “naked terminator” pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.

  20. the Big Dog Says:

Best news I’ve heard in quite a while. You can’t even watch WDRB on cable so they will never be heard from again (we hope).

  21. Jake Says:

Ok, so how do I cancel my subscription to WDRB?

  22. Scfcats Says:

19 – I actually googled your exact post to see if this was some sort of gag. To my releif it is. But it is awesome and made my day. Hahaha.

  23. rjr Says:

I wonder if the fact that no one will be reading their articles, now that CJ has gone pay, had something to do with this?

  24. REAL BLY Says:

None of this makes sense…..which makes perfect sense!!! CJ is a newspaper which is like a Triceratops…. extinct!!!

  25. ShagOnSports Says:

I have not read the Courier or any newspaper in years.

  26. cb foo Says:

They left a paper that I don’t read to a tv station I don’t watch. I’ll be ok.

  27. SteveM Says:

At least these lightweights are smart enough to abandon a sinking ship. The CJ deserves what is happening to them. Good riddance. HL isn’t far behind.
