What are the RSCI rankings, you ask?
The Recruiting Services Consensus Index takes the player rankings from all of the experts and scouting services and combines them into one easy-to-follow list. Instead of bouncing from website to website, trying to get a good idea of how a player is ranked across the board, the RCSI does it for you, so you can spend more time doing other stuff on the Internet, like talking trash on message boards and watching Kate Upton YouTube videos.
The point system you see for each player on the chart is quite simple. If a player is ranked No. 1 somewhere, that is 100 points. The No. 2 player gets 99 and so on. Easy enough, right?
Here is a guide for those mysterious abbreviations, too:
VC – Van Coleman
DT – Dave Telep
SC – Scout.com
RC – Rivals.com
MP – MaxPreps
PS – Prep Stars
As you can see in the chart, Shabazz Muhammad and Nerlens Noel tied for the top spot in the final 2012 class rankings. Alex Poythress and Archie Goodwin both made the top ten at No. 8 and No. 10, respectively.
Go Cats.

Hi Drew,
Did Shabazz beat out Noel? It looks like they are tied?
May 29th, 2012 at 12:27 pm
Muhammad and Noel tied for the top spot. Muhammad didn’t beat him out for it.

wait till ucla loses about 3 or 4 early season games. Everyone will jump off that bandwagon.

They are tied.
M comes before N.

Vince Coleman?
I believe you are talking about Van Coleman.
Vince stole bases and batted lead off.

My math could be a little fuzzy, but it looks like a tie to me also. 597 = 597. Each splitting the first and second place votes.

Noel, Poythress, Archie,Harrow, Kyle, Mays, Caulie..can’t wait unit they are on compass and the season is upon us! Wish we could somehow avoid going through football season beforehand!
May 29th, 2012 at 12:49 pm
Drew I can’t even stick up for you here. I just can’t explain why you think 597 beats 597.
May 29th, 2012 at 12:54 pm
Ease up on Drew. He never claimed to be a math major. What I find interesting is that ESPN rates Poythress and Goodwin several spots lower than consensus.

6. I prefer to believe that Vince Coleman is scouting these players and reminiscing about his days with the St. Louis Cardinals, stealing 100 bases each year.
Also, did anyone notice that Noel and Muhammed tied for #1. Maybe someone should point that out.

This past Friday on my way to Put In Bay for a bachelor party, I ran into a group of IU fans outside of Findlay, OH. They had nothing productive to say while both our parties were in the local restaurant, however upon exiting the restuarant in the parking lot, the IU crew got into their Dodge Neon and proceeded to curse at me and shout “F* UK” “UK aint got sh*t on IU”. I responded by holding up my national championship t shirt I was wearing. They did not slow down or stop. Terrible story I know, but just another prime example of IU fans showing their class, intelligence, and maturity. IU so desperately wants to be UK. I would imagine these people had to be kin to HOO HOO! hahahaha

Willie Cauley checks in at #38.
I was also surprised to see Torian Graham rated so low.

What the heck is Vince Coleman doing ranking college basketball recruits? What does he know about it? That sure is a long way from playing the outfield for the St. Louis Cardinals!
May 29th, 2012 at 1:42 pm
Seriously, Vince Coleman? Seriously, 597 > 597? Seriously does anyone read the comments before they comment? Let’s just keep repeating the same corrections over and over and over.

Funny how everyone says UCLA has the best recruiting class. Yet, when you add their 4 players’ scores and compare them to our 4 players’ scores, we have 2,030 compared to their 1,883. Plus we have 3 players in the top 10 compared to their 2. Plus, we have 4 players in the top 40 compared to their 4 players in the top 60. The only place they have us is that they have 2 players in the top 5 compared to our 1. I think our class is clearly better overall.

30 percent of the top 10. Sounds about right for the best college basketball program in the universe.

Don’t miss the real story here for UK fans … Cal gets the #1 class for the 4th year in a row based purely on the numbers — not speculation. Check out “the Winners”link on the site to see for yourself. UCLA wasn’t even 2nd…
