We knew the visit to Louisville would be first, and now we know when it will happen. Montrezl Harrell will visit the Cards on May 31 as he tries to decide where to play after being released from his LOI at Virginia Tech. Harrell’s former high school coach A former coach (although not his actual high school coach) at Hargrave Military Academy where Harrell spent his senior year is on the staff at Louisville, and many believe that helps Louisville’s chances of landing him. It’ll be interesting to see if such a relationship carries more weight than the availability of playing time and track record of player development at the most visible school in the country, but it looks like the Cards will be one of UK’s main competitors for the final piece of the recruiting puzzle in the class of 2012.

Okay look, it’s not hard to understand. THE COACH WAS NOT HARRELL’s AT HARGRAVE! HE LEFT BEFORE HARRELL EVEN GOT THERE. HE WAS NOT HIS COACH, JUST A COACH AT THE SAME SCHOOL THAT LEFT BEFORE HARRELL GOT THERE.

Someone said in the post from yesterday that he would visit them at the end of the month and it would be his only visit. They maybe on to something but hope to at least get him here for a visit.

Kevin Keatts is the coach on UofL’s staff that coached at Hargrave. UofL hired him away from Hargrave in April of 2011. At that time Harrell was still at North Edgecombe in NC. AW Hamilton(form Georgetown, KY) was Harrells coach at Hargrave this past year which was the only year Harrell played at Hargrave. Keatts never coached Harrell. Is it really that hard to understand?

Buckles is on Scholarship, but even when injured he can’t be taken off scholarship. Many people think Rick will send Buckles to play at FIU with Richard Pitino. Maybe that’s where the scholarship will come from and open up room for Harrell.

If we get this guy we have a great shot at #9. I hate to say it but Wiltjer’s defense wasn’t very good last year. That’s why Wiltjer didn’t play more minuetes. Harrell would be a starter on this team before the end of the year with great his jumping ability and long arms.

While it can’t hurt their chances having his HS coach recruiting him, you can’t think there are too many kids that would choose to join uofl’s 30 man bball team over a chance to play for UK.

Harrell called Uk to ask them to recruit him! He wants to come here, just not sure about the interest on UK’s side. Really think they want to save the scholly for 2013! JMO though….

i don’t understand why everyone thinks there is a roster situation with louisville … chris smith and kyle kuric graduated and jared swopshire is transferring … so, they’re losing 3 and only have 1 recruit at this point, terry rozier
i don’t keep up with them much, but that’s what i can gather by looking at their roster and looking at scout.com … what am i missing here? i mean, they had more than 13 guys on the team last year, so i’m assuming some are walk-ons, but it looks like they have less than last year

According to the U of Smell blog site, they do not have a scholarship. They would have to run Buckles off to Florida International to play with little Ricky. Which would be a horrible thing since Buckles was injured and has been very loyal to Pitino. They cannot take Buckles off scholarship and make him a walk on. Apparently once you start on scholly, you have to stay there. If you start as a walk on, you can go on scholly and then go back to walk on. But you can’t if you start on scholly. They have no scholarships available.

The other option is that Rozier may not qualify academically, but they won’t know that until a week or two before the semester starts.

Do we really need this guy? We have Willie Cauley who can back up nerlens and is athletic enough to play the 4 too. I think Willie is gonna surprise a lot of people honestly. He has sat just outside of the 5 star range his entire recruitment. And he’s a 7 footer who runs like a gazelle. Don’t sleep on him

C. Smith, Kuric and Justice were all walk ons last year. Rozier will be eligible. They will not have a scholarship. They will obviously move some one to walk on or they wouldn’t invite him to visit.

In Cal I trust, but people thinking that our season will be decided on landing the number 90 player in the country that originally set to go play at VT are crazy. If UL wants to let another 4 year, may break the line up guy in, then so be it. Now im also not dogging the guy, if Cal wants him, then by all means, lets get him in here, but everyone acts like this guy is the next mashburn and Im sorry, hes not.

I’m with you 38. Just don’t see this kid being that much of a difference maker either way. I would like to land him but his presence will be felt 2 or 3 years down the road. We missed out on Bennett and Jefferson I think they were the only difference makers left. I’ll take Wiljer and the #1 class we will be o.k.

Here we go again. The entire BBN wants Harrel right now, but as soon as he commits to UF or UL, “we didn’t want him” “he’s overrated” “Calipari didn’t recruit him”. And the excuses start flooding in. Every recruit that chooses a different school all of a sudden “sucks” to BBN. Class at it’s best. UK will not be landing the #82 ranked player, Harrell. And even if you did, he’s an undersized PF that has major character questions. Please, feel free to add him to your lockerroom.

Will S. – So you are saying that since Duke won the last meeting in December 2001, they should win the next game? Interesting concept, but here’s a more recent/realistic analysis: Duke is coming off an impressive first round loss to #15 Lehigh in this year’s NCAA tournament…the same tourney UK won. You probably didn’t notice since it appears you were strolling down memory lane and basking in Duke’s six wins against UK from 1979-2001.
