We’ve seen lots of suits today, but Chip Cosby’s may take the cake. Chip, known for his sartorial prowess, really took the Oaks’ partnership with the Susan G. Komen Foundation Stand Up to Cancer to heart, cloaking himself in pink from head to toe. Some may say his outfit skews a little Pepto-Bismol, but I applaud the effort. Chip just needs a different tie, a whole lot of tailoring, and he’ll be the illest pimp on the block.
– Speaking of, RIP MCA. The Beastie Boys are on the soundtrack of my generation and this news sucks.
– In happier news, the Cats are currently touring the White House prior to their National Championship ceremony at 4:50 p.m. EDT. ESPNU, ESPN3, and WatchESPN will have live coverage of the ceremony, and we’ll have a live thread running on the site. Although Matt wasn’t able to make the trip, we have a special KSR correspondent in attendance, and he will post a recap of the events later today or tomorrow. Stay tuned.
– The biggest bit of news today were the new multi-year contract extensions for men’s basketball assistant coaches Orlando Antigua, Kenny Payne, and John Robic. John Calipari’s 8-year contract was amended with a 8.3% raise in media rights/endorsements, as well as a hefty annual retention bonus. The increase in media rights/endorsement deals bumps Cal’s annual salary from $3.4 million to $3.8 million, and the retention bonus boosts his guaranteed compensation to $5.2 million per season, not including performance incentives (up to $850,000 per year). If Cal stays until the 2018-2019 season, the deal increases to $5.3 million. If you take all of that into account, Cal’s new salary would make him the fourth highest paid coach in the NBA behind Doc Rivers, Gregg Popovich, and Nate McMillan, according to Forbes. Mitch Barnhart has done a stellar job this week in securing the future of both the men’s and women’s basketball teams, and rewarding Cal and his assistants with new contracts will keep the Championship staff in place for the foreseeable future.
– Before White House security pries his iPhone from his hands, John Calipari tweeted his gratitude to Mitch Barnhart and President Capilouto for the raise and said he would share his thought on next year’s schedule on his website on Sunday. He says “the BBN will be pleased with the final results.” I believe him.
– Jeff Goodman and Gary Parrish released their latest Preseason Top 25 (and one) yesterday, and unlike many other preseason polls, the Cats come in at #1, thanks in large part to “shot-blocking freak” Nerlens Noel. The rest of the top five looks pretty familiar: 2. Indiana, 3. Louisville, 4. Kansas, 5. Michigan.
Today’s podcast is coming, I promise. Seems like somebody in the Clear Channel studios thinks it’s Oaks Friday or something…until then: balls!

Next year’s team meets Romney next year? Seriously? The only way they’ll meet Romney is if he buys a factory these guys may own. The Repubs could pick anyone (other than Gingrinch and Romney)to represent their party. Hell Little Orphan Annie could hold her own better than those two.

I love reading how the last game of each team on the preseason top 25 went. First, Kentucky won the national championship. Then, for teams 2-4, they lost to Kentucky in the NCAA Tournament. Lovely, don’t you think?

Tyler, surely you know that the Oaks race is 3 year old fillies, thus the pink. The pink is not for breast cancer, and Chip looks great. There you go again making fun of people’s clothes.
