Andrew Wiggins is one of the best players in high school basketball, regardless of class. The 6-foot-7 shooting guard out of Huntington Prep is the No. 1 player in the class of 2014, although some have suggested he may reclassify to 2013 for next season. However, a new report from Rivals.com after the Nike EYBL Hampton last weekend says Wiggins will remain a member of the 2014 class. Eric Bossi writes, “a move to 2013 is being denied by all close to him.”
Kentucky is hard after Wiggins and with names like James Young and Troy Williams flirting with a UK commitment, Kentucky fans have worried that one of those guys could taking up a spot where UK would prefer to have Wiggins, if he were to reclassify. But for now, the guy some say is the best player in the country will stay put as his sophomore season of high school comes to a close.
This kid is the real deal…

I had a hunch that some were jumping the gun on his 2013 move.

Are we going to start preregistering them in the womb at some point? This is 2012.

This is not ridiculously early, Megan. He COULD be a senior in a few weeks if he reclassifies.

I already offered this kid back in 2009.

Fairly certain we heard the same song and dance with Nerlens Noel and we all know what happened there.

Those close to Drummond and Noel said the same thing.

1 thing for sure… These back-n-forth stories aid the young man in keeping him in the front pages of the recruiting news.

I know Nerlens had an injury and he held back to recover and then decided to move back up, and obviously he was a senior academically, but how would this kid just decide to jump up a year if nothing like that happened in high school, I mean, do they just give him the credits?

Is the class of 2013 deeper than 2014? Maybe he could stand out better if he waits? Then again what price could you put on standing out more? 1 year of NBA salary?

5 and 6 are exactly right.

He is best player in high school no matter what class

This kid is 17 so by my estimation he should be a senior next year. Anyone know why he’s only completing sophomore year now?
May 1st, 2012 at 9:26 pm
I’m concerned about this because losing him would really suck if we already had kids committed at his position. This could be a real dilemma. I believe some of this is going on with Young & Williams now. It’s a great problem to have but Wiggins is really special.

The way he finishes around the rim reminds me of MKG.

He is the best player in this year’s class, next years class, and the class after that besides Shabazz and maybe Nerlens…Don’t believe me? Watch the Nike Hoops Summit. This dude is the real deal.

Lets not kid ourselves the coaches already have a good Idea who’s going where. I’m sure some of these kids will change Thier minds but for the most part they know where their headed. The reason most wait to announce is to make sure the coaches don’t leave and the recruiting media askes them not too.

We need this kid because he has an Ender’s Game.
