Matt Roark is a New England Patriot

by @ 12:45 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

Six games into Kentucky’s 2011 football season, the ‘Matt Roark is a New England Patriot’ headline would’ve been a practical joke. But today, it’s reality.  The former UK wide receiver/quarterback has signed with Patriots, where he joins Mike Hartline and Myron Pryor in New England.

Congrats.

Enjoy the guided tour of the facilities and make sure and try the chowder, before heading back home to Georgia. Seriously, I appreciate Roark’s effort in the Tennessee game, but no way he even sniffs the practice squad for an NFL team.

#1, Was just saying congrats too hard for you to do? Way to go Matt, and good luck in the NFL!

  3. buzzard Says:

It couldn’t have happened to a nicer person. Well said #2

  4. UpperSectionStudent Says:

C’mon dude, jokes about how bad we are and Joker are ok. But not the dudes striving to make their dreams a reality. Wish the guy luck, he’s the reason we beat UT.

  5. Kj Says:

Wake cat=douch asshole STFU & GTH!!!! Congrats Matt & good luck!!!!

  6. Andrew Says:

Guess the Patriots figure they can play him at quarterback against Tennessee.

  7. ESPNMembership Says:

Gave us one of the more memorable games in the history of UK Football History. Accomplished something that even Tim Couch respected and said “they finally figured out how to beat UT, play a wide receiver at Quartback.” Congrats and work hard and you don’t know where these young men can end up.

  8. 2facedfan Says:

lets all forget about how impossible it will for this nice kid, who after winning the UT game thinks that he doesnt have to go to class and will be a NFL Qb(haha), to actually do something other than sell insurance within the next 3 years. He may have been a nice kid, but after his 15 mins of fame he let it go to his head and started believing in a false hope. Congrats Matt, but #1 is right, he will never even get to wash the practice squad’s jocks. Be realistic guys.

  9. Andrew Says:

#7 Were you at that football game? I am pretty sure I speak for most people and they would gladly forget the actual game. Terrible game of football, but the outcome was in our favor. Don’t get me wrong I am glad we beat UT, but to say that was a memorable game other than for simply the fact we beat them is hard to understand. Hopefully this year we can beat them with a real offense.

  10. Purple Nurple Says:

I love it when football players cry.. especially UK players. They get spanked so often I am surprised this is the only shot KSR has been able to find.

Katt Williams is right. America is full of nothing but Haters. Give the guy some congrats and move on. He is one of us…

  12. Kentucky Gentleman Says:

Anyone know any of the details of the contract he signed?

  13. bluebiscuit Says:

I say good for him and congratulations.

    Kentucky effect?

    RISE.

  16. Alex Says:

Most undrafted free agents aren’t going to make a team or a practice squad, but after following this for a few years I’ve given up on trying to predict who will stick and who won’t. Roark isn’t an NFL receiver but he was a great special teams player for us. You never know what holes need filling in those last couple of roster and practice squad spots. Regardless, we should all wish him well.

  17. Cat's Balls Says:

Good Luck Matt! Work your ass off, do whatever the coaches tell you and show the haters what’s up.

  18. Jake_GOCATS Says:

    Haha 14.

    # 9 – I was at that game, just as I’ve been to every home game in the last 12rs. and watched avery UK game on TV for the last 30yrs, and the win over UT gave me as much pleasure as ANY football victory since the last time we beat UT. The fact that we beat Tenn. with our 1st and 2nd string QB’s watching a wide receiver take the snaps as QB was exceptionally memorable. The fact that not many points were scored or many passes completed makes no difference, it was one hell of a game. Tenn knew we were going to run every time and still couldn’t stop Roark. You obviously don’t know anything about football.

  20. WOW! Says:

He is one of the worst recievers in the history of UK football. I’ve never seen a player drop so many passes. I’m glad he beat UT and all, but really?

  21. patriots Says:

    Hello.

Kid gets drafted/invited to a premier org. and he is the worse. what i read is damn the patriots something our crappy coaches didn’t. and yes he dropped passes. but he now has a chance to play real football.

    DaH,
