Get his jersey retired now! There might never be another player in program history that has done more positive things in one year for UK than Anthony Davis, and this kid deserves all the recognition he is getting.
Big legacy? How does one figure that one and done will be a big legacy? This is a school with a history of winning and has multiple national championships. I view this team as nothing more than a group of mercenaries. They showed up had one great season and then dipped. Big legacies at a power house basketball school like Kentucky require multiple final fours and National titles.
#5 that is a crazy statement. how long you been a cat fan? patterson di more than davis except win a national champ. a requirement for retiring a jersey should be that a player be hear more than a year perhaps 3 at the least.
#7 Been a Cats fan for 30 years. National championships are what’s remembered at UK, and he along with the other’s brought us one. If Patterson did more than Davis as you say, wouldn’t he have come back to try to win a NC? I agree, Pat helped bring us out of the doldrums, but he is an average at best NBA player, and college player to be honest. If he was so good, and I’m certainly not trying to discount his contributions, he would have been drafted top 5. Just stating the facts and my opinions. The days of players staying 3 years at UK are over, unless you count the one’s that warm the bench. The times have changed, so should our expectations and requirements for legacies, imo.
#6 You view them as mercenaries because they killed your gators, much like mercenaries, which I understand. Doesn’t Florida have a fan page you can comment on?
so it is ok for Davis to set sevaral UK, SEC, AND NCAA RECORDS, win just about every award ever created for college basketball including POY… but he is not good enough to be considered for having his jersey retired… oh and he did all of this while displaying team first attitude and demeanor…
NUMBER 6 AND 7 need to recognize…
davis is indeed a superstar but just being a superstar shouldnt get you in the rafters. and the pros have nothing to do with college sports. bowie was drafted before jordan and bowie was great. bowie, walker, hayes, all deserve the rafters before davis.
Wasn’t John Wall oh so freaking great when he entered the draft? Not to burst anybodies bubble, but you don’t hear anything about John Wall, Demarcus Cousins, Orton, none of them. It’s because they sit the bench in the NBA. They do the whole one and done and aren’t going to be heard from again until they’re as old as Kobe. Davis may be a great player, but he’s not that good. People overestimate what he can do. These kids think they’re going from college right into playing, but in fact it’s years before they see enough playing time to even amount to how much they played in one year of college. Now that I’ve made my point about the one and done being totally freaking stupid, I’m done. Good day. Oh and by the way Anthony Davis = <3
John wall starts, for the wizards. Cousins starts for the kings, you have to give them time because they all go so high they get drafted to VERY subpar teams. Good try on making up this facts but here’s one for ya, after this years draft, UK will have 22 players in the NBA. Not too shabby.

A true Wildcat. They will be talking about him 100 years from now. Kentucky got him, and he became Kentucky. Sad to see him go.
