Here is a quick question. Would you like to cover UK sports for a living? If the answer is yes (and why would it not be?), then it is time for you to get serious about a great opportunity to make it happen. No matter how old you are, whether you have any experience or you are just simply a fan, you now have a chance to begin a broadcasting career covering the team you grew up watching.
It is that time of year again, as we kick off the 2nd ANNUAL KSTV CASTING CALL around the state of Kentucky. Over the next month, you will have the opportunity to try out to become one of the co-hosts for KSTV and join me on the air covering UK sports. You will be able to be a co-host in studio, do interviews on the road and attend games as a KSTV reporter, covering the team you love and getting valuable experience for a career you will enjoy.
The KSTV CASTING CALL AUDITIONS ARE THESE DAYS:
DATES & LOCATIONS
April 21st – Northern Kentucky – Florence
Insight Communications Studio, 7906 Dixie Highway, Florence, KY 41042
Registration from 8AM to 10AM
April 28th – Lexington, Kentucky
Lyric Theatre & Cultural Art Center, 300 E. 3rd Street, Lexington, KY 40508
Registration from 8AM to 10AM
May 12th – Louisville, Kentucky
Swope Auto Center, 10 Swope Autocenter Drive, Louisville, KY 40299
Registration from 8AM to 10AM
At each of these stops, you must arrive sometime between 8 am-10 am. Be dressed as if you were going to be on television and to put your best foot forward. From there, you will go through the THREE STEPS to making the next round:
STEP ONE: A first audition in which you meet with a KSTV judge and they interview you on your knowledge of UK sports and ability to be a broadcaster.
STEP TWO: A group meeting at 11:30 am in which you are told if you have made the afternoon final “TV Round” before our second panel of judges.
STEP THREE: A second audition in the afternoon in which you do a one-on-one debate with Perrin Johnson (former UL player) or Leslie Neeley (last year’s KSTV Casting Call winner) while being judged by a three-judge panel. This part of the Audition will air on KSTV throughout the course of May.
If you get 2 of 3 yes votes from the 3 judge panel, you move on to Round 2, a voting and judge selection by the fans and those of us at KSTV. It is that simple. But you can’t do it if you don’t show up.
ALL are eligible and you can come to more than one event, but all you have to do is make it to Round 2 one time and you are on your way. We begin this Saturday in Northern Kentucky, before making our way to Lexington and Louisville as well. Make sure you show up and give it your best shot…last year Leslie Neeley and Radio Ron were just like you, and now they are both on the show and doing their thing covering and commenting on UK sports. You can be next. Below are some examples of try outs from last year so you can see what you are in for at the Casting Call events. See you there!
