Saturday morning links

by @ 10:00 am. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

Good morning, KSR readers. Welcome to the first weekend of the off-season. Don’t cry. We’ll be here all day, pouncing on every bit of news that trickles out. That said, here are some links to start your day.

– Here’s the AP writeup about Calipari and Anthony Davis attending the John R. Wooden Award ceremony last night. Cal said Davis would be the number one pick if he goes, but he hopes he stays, even promising AD he could play point guard. Now THAT I’d love to see.

– Assuming he goes, ESPN’s basketball blog asks the really pointless question of: Where would Anthony Davis like to play?

Scoop Jackson has an excellent profile of Davis for ESPN.com, in which he discusses his sharp rise to the top and compares his journey to John Wall’s.

– Here’s the latest on Bobby Petrino‘s big ole mess down in Arkansas, in which he admits to his “inappropriate” relationship with Jessica Dorrell and apologizes to his family.

– If you’re into it, here’s a list of tee times for today’s round at the Masters.

– Speaking of the Masters, here’s a blooper reel of all of Tiger’s cussing and club kickin’ yesterday, put together with loving care by our friends at SB Nation.

Be back soon…

If Arkansas fires Bobbie Petrino I think they should hire someone to continue their fine traditions. The only logical candidate would be SexnNursinHomes.

  2. Big Blue 66 Says:

Petrino wont go anywhere, too much donor money being spend on their new facility.

  3. Mjp Says:

Hey if they fire him we will take him
We obviously don’t care about cheating coaches

  4. UK Rifle >>>> WVU Rifle Says:

were Jeff Long and Bill Gates separated at birth?

    @ Big Blue 66

While I tend to agree with you if it were just the affair (like 15 second Rick) or it was just internal with no legal issues, but that is not the case.

    a) If the wife pushes for divorce, that is not good
    b) If the fiance makes a stink, that is not good
    c) If the woman in question causes a stink, that is not good

all these things would still probably not cost him his job, but

    a) Lying to the police (the second report came out after the 911 call leaked there was a female involved)
    b) Lying to your boss and your university
    c) Hiring a subordinate for 55K a year, and having her be your mistress (see sexual harassment lawsuit for the University of Arkansas)
    d) Covering all this up after the fact

I would like a lawdog like Matt Jones to offer insight on the hiring of her last week to work under him. I think that may be the one that gets him fired no matter what else comes from this. Winning football is a big deal and big money, but Arkansas is a state institution with a hefty endowment that dwarfs the football program. I have to think the counsel for the university says let him go no matter what just to mitigate any liability issues. If they keep him and do nothing it seems the school is just asking for lawsuits in the future for sexual harassment cases. No football coach is worth that.

  5. James K Says:

Petrino admitted to and apologized for his relationship, so I have no more interest in it. I don’t remember Pitino doing that. That’s all anyone can do.

  6. FireJoker Says:

Get rid of me after the season is over and hire Petrino after he sits out this year. Perfect Guy to take the UK program to the next level in football!
