Some people are questioning if this is real or fake. Drew from UK Sports Info works for an ad agency in Lexington and helped negotiate the space. Here’s his Tweet, “Drew K. Johnson ‏ @drewuksportsinf
Seriously. I negotiated the space. I had the CBS Outdoor rep in NOLA literally text it to me minutes after it was up. Can’t get more real.”

  29. Jay6015 Says:

I want to see this picture cover a side of the 5/3 bank building in Lexington. This is amazing Blue Orleans!

  30. TSizzle Says:

    Thats Awesome! #BBN #WeAreUK #AllCatsEverything

  31. SteveP Says:

I hope this isn’t a ncaa violation. I’m sure some scumbag sports reporter will try to dig into it.

Did they book it through April 3?

  33. Ricky Penetrator Says:

    PHOTOSHOP!

  34. JohnTheBlinkyLightStand Says:

Tyler is that real? It has no advertising, who could have paid for it? Cool pic though, I hope it’s real :p

  35. Jimmy Says:

    12) he will get alot for this, just not right now.

  36. Richard Says:

    That is an NCAA violation.

  37. Kysportsinfo Says:

Drew works for Cornett IMS om main street in lex. It’s real. And it is not a violation. You people are idiots.

  38. noordinaryjones Says:

how is this an ncaa violation? Not seeing how it could be.

  39. DavisBrow Says:

    http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/rank/_/listId/1611/versionId/1

Keep voting! Make sure you do 1. AD 2. MKG 3. Isaiah Canaan 15. Thomas Robinson!

  40. Kysportsinfo Says:

Cornett markets for UK, keeneland, buffalo trace, bhg and many others. It is NO violation.

  41. Han Says:

    Nice.

Someone photoshop Ant blocking all those balls.

  42. Stanley Roberts Says:

How in the world could this be an NCAA violation? And we should all send in a few bucks to KSR to get this put up all over LVL. (And send in a few bucks for all the great free work you guys do, too!)

  43. Richard Says:

    37. Your a freaking moron. It’s a violation the same way selling a poster on Ebay is a violation, only it’s much worse because it’s out there in public for the world to see. Also Cornett either stole the image from UK or UK gave them permission to use the image and they in turn payed the owner of the Billboard, so large amounts of money was made off using the likeness of an NCAA student athlete.

  44. Richard Says:

But don’t worry Cornett you just earned alot of new customers here in Louisville by ruining UK’s season! :)

  45. DavisBrow Says:

    43. So, what about all those other UK billboards here in Louisville with the football athletes on them? Those violations as well?

  46. WestKYUKfan Says:

43-It isn’t a violation because it isn’t promoting an athlete. No where does it say his name or show his jersey number. It’s no different than painting U of L on those stupid grain silos.

  47. Richard Says:

Well a school promoting their athletes for purposes of promoting their school is quite different than a business making money off a student athlete. You guys really are all retarded I think.

  48. MtnTool Says:

43.) No one made money off of his image moron!!!! The billboard owner only sold the space not AD’s likeness. Somebody sold the space, so this guy could put anything he wanted on it. The owner was not selling the “AD poster billboard”, just the space. Now if the billboard advertised something using his picture then that would be a different story. This guy just put up the space to support his team, not gain anything from it. So quit ranting at people if you have not thought through your statements.

  49. MtnTool Says:

    47.) I hate you

  50. DavisBrow Says:

    47. Making money off the athlete? There is no advertisement!!! It is just a picture!!! God, it really is true that you can’t argue with a Tard fan. Take your “victory” over Seton Hall and celebrate, because it sure isn’t lasting long. #L1C4

  51. Name (not required) Says:

Hey Richard, can you please direct us to the specific NCAA rule that this violates, not just your personal opinion? That way all of us “retards” can be on the same page as the expert you are trying to appear to be.

  52. Former Coach Enes Says:

    47. What business is making money off of this? This is essentially a UK promotion for AD’s Player of the Year Campaign. Similar to schools putting up huge billboards in Times Square promoting a football player’s Heisman Campaign (ex. Oregon and Joey Harrington a few years back).

  53. DavenderCatTheSequel Says:

    Richard, it’s spelled “You’re a moron.” Only a moron “Your a moron.”

  54. Richard Says:

For the last time you retards, UofK is not the ones promoting Davis on this billboard so it’s not similar in any way to those other football examples you keep bringing up.

The owner of the billboard is making money on Davis because some moron payed them to put his picture up. It doesn’t matter if it is direct or indirect the out some is the same.

NCAA rules (Bylaw 12.5.2.2) is what this billboard violates. But that’s ok UK fans, I am sure you can spin it in whatever way you want to.

Looks like Louisville just picked up another win since UK will have to vacate this season. Hahaha.

  55. cdc_uky Says:

I knew Richard was a UofL fan as soon as he wrote UofK in the last post. We are UK.

Hey Richard, it is pathetic that this is all you have to say right now. Hahaha sums up the Cards year and your outlook for years to come. Enjoy football because you are no longer a relevant basketball program.

  56. Lovely Says:

No commercial product is being advertised. If anything, AD and/or UK would be required only to ask this company to remove his likeness in order to retain eligibility. It does not affect previous eligibility, so no current wins would be vacated. One could make the argument that it is a congratulatory advertisement, according to 12.5.1.4. Also, since it is above the SuperDome, it could be an SEC tournament advertisement, which is permissible under 12.5.1.8. The main point is that AD probably did not know of this, and that no commercial product or even company is being advertised. I don’t know what this billboard wants me to buy.

  57. DavisBrow Says:

Lets stop feeding the troll. Obviously it is hungry seeing its pride has obviously taken a hit this season.

  58. mjblue2 Says:

@55 He could just be older…I’m not that old but I remember people saying U of K all of the time when I was younger. Lot’s of older folks still say U of K. My grandparents say it a lot.

  59. Rockfield,KY Says:

Richard or Dick, whatever…You are a typical UofL lower life form. Its a violation if someone is earning money off of the likeness of an NCAA athlete while he is still in school. That is why you cannot sell free merchandise on eBay if it shows the athlete. This is simply a promotional billboard just like those God-awful “L Yeah” billboards.

  60. J-Daddy Says:

Somewhere in the Big Easy Jerry Tipton is at a Wal/Mart getting some .35mm film developed so he can send pics of that billboard to the NCAA Offices via Pony Express.

  61. MtnTool Says:

54.) He is not making money off of Anthony, he is making it off of the rental space. He could put a picture of Rick Pitino nailing sypher for all the ncaa cares.

  62. Real Cats Fan Says:

Richard = pathetic UL troll who is reduced to getting on his knees every night and praying that UK and Cal will get busted for some NCAA violation, since that is the only hope he has of seeing his team have a chance against the Cats for years to come…

  63. Jared Says:

This is asking for the NCAA to look into this. Why!?!! Do this!!

  64. Will Totten Says:

If anything it’s an advertisement for an NCAA Sanctioned Event which the NCAA does itself every time they show highlights in a commercial promoting March Madness. No violations at all

  65. Will Totten Says:

Except in the commercials case, the NCAA are the ones making money off of the athletes, which is much much worse than anything here

  66. cccatfan Says:

54.) Its no more of a violation than those UL billboards with Justice on them that were plastered all over Eastern Kentucky.

  67. Shenanigans Sam Says:

I’m calling shenanigans on this one…. I’m in NOLA, and this board is no where to be found. What’s the address?

  68. Big Dave Says:

The billboard red-iron construction looks like some of the ones located around New Orleans Arena. Either next to I-10 or on the expressway coming off of the Crescent City Connection Bridge. Hope it’s real and not a violation.
