Miss. St. women’s coach Sharon Fanning (a former UK women’s coach) is retiring at end of season. Matthew Mitchell, who grew up in Louisville, MS (25 miles south of Starkville), is reported to be on their “short list” of possible replacements. Sure hope Barnhart talks soon with Mitchell about re-upping, or we may lose him.

the espn clip doesn’t have knight mentioning anyone other than cuse. so did espn cut that portion from the interview?

I dislike Knight as much as the next UK fan but I just listened to the ESPN audio from this morning and Knight was not asked to name the top 5 teams to win the championship (the claim from your show this morning). He first was asked about the UNC – Duke rivalry which was the only reason he discussed them. Then about the importance of seeding which he thinks is unimportant. Then he was asked about the attributes of teams that win the NCAA…which he listed several (what you discuss in your clip above). They he was asked specifically about Syracuse and he stated he thought they were one of the few that had all the requirements. He did NOT however talk about other teams who met his criteria other than saying there are a couple.
KSR blew this one….and misrepresented what was stated this morning. I still believe Bob Knight is an ?ss and hates Kentucky but this morning on ESPN is not evidence of that.
In the end, because its Bobby Knight I don’t really care. But, I do depend on KSR to deliver information factually….which you did not do in this piece. If you are going to Spin…spin..just be honest about it.

There was no need to make the statement that old people think they can say whatever they want. Bobby Knight has ran his mouth since he was in his 30′s. Being an asshole has nothing to do with his age.

Kentucky fans should not care about the Bobby Knight snub. He was a great coach, but he obviousley is an idiot. Was he not fired for being abusive to kids. Who cares what he has to say.

Anyone read the article on ESPN that says Celtics are shopping Rondo because he apparently don’t play well with others. They site his poor attitude and his constant run ins with Doc Rivers. Lets see, he didn’t get along with Tubby and he doesn’t get along with his team mates or Doc you think he may want to take a look in the mirror before its too late and he costs himself a hundred million dollars in future earnings.

I totally disagree w/ #6 DGtuk. Does DG stand for Digger? Duh, Bob Knight hates UK, he basically has admitted it. Anthony Davis is the best College Basketball player that has been around for a long time. Let’s face it dgtuk, name one time since his retirement he has mentioned UK on a positive note. You must be intimidated by Mr Knight. Maybe witnessing him doing a choke hold on a player scared you!! UK has the number 1 efficient team in the country. Haven’t you done your homework? How can you not mention them and be a true neutral college basketball fan? Does anyone agree? I think dgtuk is Digger Phelps in disguise of a butt kisser.

Knight is a moron, a bully, a petulent child and I wouldn’t make any excuses fr him, but I also wonder if ESPN has gotten so many complaints from UK fans about his bias that the network forbade him from even mentioning Cal, UK or any of its players.

Gregg Doyel at CBS also wrote a column about what Bob Knight said on Mike and Mike but has removed the article as of earlier today. Bob Knight did snub the Cats this morning on the show. I was listening to it live.

Emailer on the card call-in show makes point that the possibility exists that Cal could have more NCAA tourney wins in just 3 years at UK than Pitino has in 11 at UL.

Somebody else (15): I will try this real SLOW so your pea brain can grasp it. I state in my earlier comments that Knight hates UK…always has. I can’t stand him either going back to his treatment of Joe Hall in Bloomington years ago. Never enjoyed a game more that the regional final game when UK spanked IU/Bobby’s ass back in the 70′s. None of that is in question nor the point.
If you listen to the entire comments of Knight this morning there is nothing particularly damning about it. I understand Knight slighted Davis the other night on TV but POY was not discussed this morning. I outlined the discussion from this morning where KSR led us to believe that Knight was asked to name 5 teams likely to win the NCAA title and he didn’t mention UK. If that had happened, it would have been an obvious, bias comment. Hate to let those pesky facts get in the way, but no one asked Knight that question today.
So take your teeth out, finish your Ripple and have a good night. Don’t want to waste those 2 brain cells you have left.

The elderly? The Elderly! Two news flashes: 1) Knight thought he could say (and do) anything long before he became elderly; and, 2) barring the alternative, someday you’ll be elderly. What’cha gonna think then? Don’t know that I’m elderly–yet–but anyway, apology not accepted! Quit making offensive generalizations and stick to Knight bashing! And…go back to “Everything I Need to Know, I Learned in Kindergarten” and learn to respect your elders ya young whipersnapper, ya!

I heard the show live this morning and I did hear Knight rattle off a list of teams he thought could win the title this year and couldn’t believe he left off UK. I think the clip that is posted has been EDITED and that section is missing…Again I listened live this morning and heard what Knight said.

I’ve watched this topic all day. The first report on KSR was by Ms. Tyler Tompson. At one point, she cited her source as Matt Jones in the comment sand box. No one has been able to provide a source that confirms BK’s slight of UK. Plenty of IU fans have posted the M&M webcast as proof this didn’t happen. I read GGRREEGG Doyle’s response to the show this morning that supports BBN opinion. I have also read that GGRREEGG Doyle’s post on the topic has been removed, but I just viewed it http://gregg-doyel.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/5881996/35032079
It is possible that GGRREEGG Doyle’s post is in my web cache. Not willing to clear it. Can someone else check the last url?

You have to be an espn insider to listen to the complete show via espn website on mike and mike page. What you get on website is just ‘best of’ mike and mike unless your paying insider.

the aashole Knight says or thinks. I don’t watch any-
thing on ESPN when he is on. He is easily the biggest
asshole in basketball. I guess we need ESPN OR I’d boy-
cott them for keeping him. He obviously hates Kentucky
because we beat his brains out while he was at IU. I
can’t believe it took so long for them to get rid of
him. If I had a kid and his school was the only one who
offered a scholarship, I’d pay myself before let him
play for that prick.

When I heard the show live, I clearly heard a more extensive interview than what “dgtuk” claims to have heard. If you didn’t listen to the live broadcast, you missed the entire interview. Dgtuk, please get your facts straight before making such accusations.
