ESPNHS (ESPN High School) released their “18 Under 18″ List today, a compilation of “teen athletes who are doing remarkable things on the field, in the classroom and in their communities,” and hey, one of those names looks familiar. It’s Jabari Parker, the number one recruit in the 2013 class! Roll that beautiful highlight footage.
Parker, who has drawn comparisons to Carmelo Anthony and Paul Pierce, is considering the Cats along with Duke, North Carolina, Ohio State and Kansas. They say this in the video above, but you know Parker must be good if he was ranked above Nerlens Noel before Noel reclassified to 2012. Parker’s coach at Simeon HS, Robert Smith, said he “can be one of the best basketball players that ever lived,” which is high praise considering Smith has coached players like NBA MVP Derrick Rose, a Simeon alum. Cal traveled to Chicago to watch Parker play on February 12th, mere hours after returning from Nashville after beating Vandy. Parker recently told Michael O’Brian of the Chicago Sun-Times that he will take visits and narrow down his choices this summer before making a decision in the fall, although he may wait until the spring to sign.
Go get ‘em, Cal.

I would love to get him. But I think we are behind Washington and BYU. Maybe Mark Pope can put in a good word for us when he visits BYU.

Being from Chicago I have seen him play, and he is the real deal. We love D. Rose for being so humble and just playing the right way. This kid is everything Rose is and more. I was afraid he would end up @ Illinois, but Bruce Weber cant keep the great kids in state ( D. Rose, Anthony Davis, Jon Schyer, Deandre Liggins). I think Coach Cal can keep the Chicago Pipeline feeding Lexington our best players. I hope to see this kid rocking Kentucky Blue in a couple of years.

This just in from NJT.
Word is that UK is very high on the list of #1 player Jabari Parker. This does not bode well for UK. UK has never won the National Championship in a year that they got the #1 player. But, if they do not get Parker this does not bode well for UK either. Calipari can’t coach worth a lick and if he misses out on the best player in 2013 it may start a trend of the best players choosing not to come to UK. Either way, Uk and Cali[ari are in for hard times.
Uk has never won a game on february 29 in an odd numbered year.

11. I don’t think Mercer ended up as the overall #1 player (that was Kevin Garnett), but he was the Naismith POY in high school.

Parker has Kentucky written all over him. He just looks like a UK player.
