  1. Just sayin' Says:

    1st!?

  2. Charlie Warrior Says:

I’m very impressed! Archie concisely expressed his logic in choosing to play for UK. He’s articulate and will be a great ambassador for UK basketball. Welcome to the Bluegrass, Archie!

  3. Dunker Says:

Archie sings bass, Willie sings tenor! Singin seem to help our wildcat souls. One of these days it won’t be long, Nerlens joins them in a song.

  4. Tyrannosaur Says:

I like how he explains exactly why he chose Kentucky over Arkansas in the first answer, and then the interviewer asks “so why didn’t Arkansas get the nod?” HELLO MCFLY

  5. RY Says:

If all recruits were this logical we would get them all

  6. WhatSheOrder?FishFilet? Says:

    really #2? “articulate”?? smh.

    Archie’s gonna ball though.

  7. KYStout Says:

You mean he actually had to explain to someone why he picked Kentucky over Arkansas?

    Seriously?

  8. Jason Says:

This guy might as well have just had him write an essay as to why he didn’t want to go to Arkansas. I know it’s a local news guy but c’mon the kid made a decision right or wrong don’t make him defend it more than once.

  9. Jiminy Cricket Says:

Interviewer sounded like he wasn’t going to quit asking until he got a flip on the commitment…. LOL

  10. Quickdraw Says:

Good interview. Archie thought this through, explains his decision and takes responsibility for it. I think he explained it quite clearly. Its not all about running up and down and playing to the crowd with dunks. He wanted to put his future in the hands of someone who has a great track record for preparing young men for their life’s work. Hard to argue with that.

  11. pioneer Says:

Loved this kid before this interview, love him even more now! Welcome to the BBN Archie! You have the potential to be special!

  12. What? Says:

#6-Sorry Archie does not meet your high falutin’ standards. Good Grief…

  13. serdi Says:

I live in Little Rock. I am really surprised that Channel 11 did that interview. My hats off to them. Before Goodwin committed everybody in the media print and electronic were always talking about him and they just knew he was going to Arkansas. When he committed to UK, that was hit…VERY rarely is there ANY mention. When the Parade All-American and McDonald’s AA game out…Not one mention here locally about Goodwin. I am sure that Channel 11 will catch some flack for doing that interview.

  14. Dick Cheney Says:

I think the interviewer should have sent him to Guantanamo and had him waterboarded. Then we might be able to find out why he didn’t go to Arkansas. I can’t believe Archie didn’t just bitchslap that dude!

  15. Bill Curry Says:

In other news, a local man explains why he chose a prime cut filet mignon over the corn dog special at dinner last night.

  16. Load Testing Shagari's Jorts Says:

Very impressive. He wasn’t flustered by the repetitive questions. He could enunciate a bit better, but his clarity of thought made me smile broadly. This is a quality young man that has a great head on his shoulders!

Archie, I not only respect your game, but I also respect your intellect. You’ve seen what a smart player can do (Brandon Knight)…I’m looking forward to seeing you play in the NBA in a couple years. Before that, we are eager to see you hang banner #9.

  17. blitzedanddazed Says:

The young speaks well and will be a great representative for Ky Basketball.

  18. WhatIf Says:

    #15–Amen, preach on.

  19. Van Wilder Says:

Sounded to me like the interviewer was pushing the issue a bit too much. Archie explained pretty thoroughly early on why he chose Kentucky and the interviewer just kept hounding him about it. Archie gave great answers though and was more patient than I would have been.

He shouldn’t really have to explain why he chose Kentucky over Arkansas, in basketball. That would be like making a scholar explain in detail why he chose to attend Stanford over Oregon for example. It’s a no-brainer.

  20. serdi Says:

Ya know the first time I saw it I was thinking positive about Channel 11 here in Little Rock for doing the interview with him. Since he committed to UK it is like he lives in Seattle instead of Sherwood, AR (suburb of Little Rock).

But after listening to drive time sports here in Little Rock and listening to the announcers and callers, they basically blasted Archie, can’t understand why he’d not to go to Arkansas. You can go to Arkansas and go to the NBA, etc. It was pathetic. The announcers also took the opportunity to take shots at Cal and nothing but one and doners, etc. etc…all the stuff you have heard.

But now I feel like Archie got duped. I think they told him they wanted to talk to him because they were so honored to have McDonald’s and Parade AA in their town, and, then once they got him in front of the camera, they ambushed him. Not one time do I remember them ever congratulate him on his accomplishments.

He made the right choice. Have you ever been to Fayetteville? It is nowhere.

  21. Catblue in LR Says:

Serdi–He doesn’t live in Sherwood… lives in LR, just matriculates (that means goes to school) in Sherwood. I ran into his sister a couple of weeks ago wearin’ my Kentucky swag, and she filled me in on that. BTW, we need to get together to watch the Cats sometime.

  22. serdi Says:

#21 I wondered if he lived in Sherwood. Doesn’t make a difference. I think he got duped into going to 11 for the interview. Thanks for defining matriculates for me…I would have never know.
