Flagrant 1 foul and I’m sure the SEC will review and make a determination. Since Vandy is 4 games is behind UK with 5 games left, they will suspend Chaingang at least 1 game.

Short answer: yes. Non-issue because it was against UK. Now had Teague done that to a Vandy player, it would have lead off Sports Center and Tipton, Forde, Parrish and the gang would have been all over it.

I agree it should have been a foul but that is no different than any post up move every big man in the country does every game. When you do it to another big man its a forearm in the back, no big deal, but when he did it to a 6’2 guard its a forearm in the head.

I just wanted to say that i’m the original poster of this video. I was watching the game last night on DVR and when this foul happened, I couldn’t believe my eyes. So much so, that I recorded the foul and posted it on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CziWU7fKfQ). Teague could have been seriously injured (concussion, whiplash, etc) and Tchiengang could just walk away from this blatant foul without so much as a slap on the wrist. I think not. I plan on sending this video to Vanderbilt’s A.D., coach, and the NCAA’s SEC Compliance officer, Gregory Sankey. This is definitely NOT what college athletics should be like. At least Kentucky has enough class to not react to the foul, keep playing, and show what a strong team they are. GO CATS!

As disgusting as this was to see. Sadly, we should not be surprised. LSU was doing this crap to Davis a couple weeks ago. That’s the same BS teams use to pull on Demarcus Cousins game in and game out. The elbows to the stomach, the shoving him when the officials weren’t looking, the throwing him to the ground. But if Cousins looked at somebody funny. The P.O.S. refs would go to the monitor to review the play to see if there was any way they could throw Cousins out. Hey refs, UK deserves better than the treatment they’re getting from you! The name on the front of the jersey shouldn’t get in the way of us getting a fair shake from the stripes!

Given the possibility of criminal charges against Yancy Gates after his sucker punch in the Cincinnati-Xavier game earlier this year, Tchiengang’s conduct is worthy of review and possible censure.
Let’s stop and applaud Teaque for not retaliating. Another example of his growing maturity as a basketball player and development as a person.

Somebody has to be held accountable for this; one for missing the call. 2 if nothing is done, then it will cause somebody else to do it. I can never understand why refs are not held accountable for when they make mistakes like this. Should be obvious that the coaches are incouraging this type of play against the Cats. Don’t mind Big East Thug Ball as long as it is called both ways. However,,,someone is going to get hurt and the officials and coaches that allow and encourage this sort of play will be at fault. I had always given Vandy high marks for sportsmanship and class compared to some of the other SEC schools but the whole atmosphere at Vandy Saturday was low class,,,from the students,,,players,,,coaches,,,one of the announcers on College Game Day,,and last but not least,, the officials.

I don’t think anyone is being whiny winners, moaning ass babies, etc about this. Kentucky won. That’s great. Nothing we say or do will change the way the game was played last night. But, if this is brought to the attention of universities and the NCAA/SEC, then it may change the way future games are played. Its about sportsmanship and playing the game the way its supposed to be played. Teague could have been seriously hurt and players who play like Tchiengang should have to answer for their actions.

OK, I just watched this about 50 times. No reasonable person can say otherwise: this was a forearm/hammerfist slam to the back of the head. The best that can be said is that is was out of frustration. The Vandy apologists/excuse makers will say that he probably just wanted to win so badly or some nerd spin like that.
Somebody from UK needs to pick up the phone, call the conference office, and make a complaint. The Vandy coach needs to make some public BS statement about how they don’t condone such behavior, yada yada yada– but it needs to be a public “owning” the issue.
This UK team has time after time this year taken crap like this and has just walked away. And won. And won. If Teague had even turned around and said that Tchiengang had hurt his feelings there would have been a double T. Everybody knows the PC silliness that college BB officiating has sunken to this year.

There is a reason why Kentucky fans are regarded as the worst (and stupidest) in the SEC. Why do you keep saying Tchiengang has been there forever? He didn’t even redshirt! He’s the nicest, smartest, most hard working person there is. This was a foul. If it was so terrible, MT would have brought it to someone’s attention sooner. It wasn’t until he saw the video that he thought “Oh wait. That looks bad!” Steve T has more smarts and integrity than the whole University of Kentucky combined, and he’s actually getting a degree! Imagine that.
Kentucky won. Enjoy it, send your guys off to the pros and start again. I hope there is another $200K to spend to buy a replacement for Davis.

MSUFan – yeah this complaint has no merit and Chaingang is a pillar of integrity. That’s why Nashville bewspa reporting that Vandy administration is looking into the matter.

Of course the administration is looking into it. I realize it might be a tough concept for the Kentucky brain trusts, but what administration would NOT respond that way?
You guys have a great team with great players. Why do you constantly feel so threatened by Vanderbilt? I’m serious- is it just an inferiority complex thing because of your one and dones and the sucky academics? So the reserve big man had an uncalled flagrant (only because it was above the shoulders) on your smaller guy. It should have been called based on the video, but why jump to calling names and trying to hurt a player with an absolutely spotless reputation?

MSUFAN,,,,give me a break,,,,,why would Chaingang need to thump Teague ? All they had to do was lob the ball to him,,,,he had a much smaller player guarding him. Thats right,,,no need for it. It was malicious and your sparkling clean player should be suspended. I have watched this guys act for a couple of years,,,somehow spotless just does not get it for me.

Blow your vandy academics out of your ass, we know sports and we especially know college basketball.
