Vandy fans are trying. I guess.

by @ 12:00 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

Bless their little hearts. A group of Vanderbilt students are promoting this t-shirt for the game on Saturday. If this is the best they have, well, it’s exactly what we’d expect from Vanderbilt.

Hell, I didn’t even know Vanderbilt had basketball fans. I commend them for coughing up $15 of daddy’s money to spend on a custom t-shirt.

Nicely done, Vandy kids. Kind of.

*** UPDATE ***

BUY THE SHIRTS ONLINE!!!

*** UPDATE AGAIN ***

No one accused the university of being associated with these shirts. A “group of students” could be five people.

Move along with your lives.

  3. St. Paul Raiders Says:

This needs to circulate to the team. Hope the guys that read the site regularly make sure the rest of the guys see this. Not that they need any more motivation, but this couldn’t hurt.

  4. Reality Is Says:

Oh yeah, well Vandy has cooties.

  5. Jrod Says:

Ah, to be back in 4th grade again…

  7. Jeff Garlin Says:

Typical Commedork… Most students will be at a scrable tournament in the library.

  8. donaldtruman Says:

Vandy fans would call us ignorant gay-bashers if we made a t like that. At least it will look like more CATS fans there if they wear those yiiiiiiirts.

  9. RichardSimmons Says:

is it really possible to be TOO gay ? really ?

  10. Walter Sobchak Says:

I don’t see how this would bother the team. Seriously, any middle-school-age kid in the country could think of that. I would think the team would just laugh at something so dumb. I think singing marry had a little lamb may be more clever than this. and that’s saying something…

  11. Cobalt Says:

Nothing will stick it to Kentucky more than wearing their colors…

  12. Hopefully Says:

This gets out and GLAAD or some organization tears vandy up for this

  14. Richard Simmons Says:

    What’s wrong with being gay?

  15. BigblueJon Says:

It is you who are the ones who are ga…..REALLY!? Cute Vandy. Could you make sure you say that to a UK player’s face( or fan for that matter). Let me know how that works out for ya.

  16. Cuz' big elboe Says:

“not that there’s anything wrong with that”

  17. John Denver Says:

Surely Vandy admins are classy enough to escort them out. If not, it adds more blue and white.

  18. justin Says:

What the Vandy students don’t understand is that the play on the uk2k happened 2 years ago and I’m not sure they will ever reach 2000 wins. Work on new material.

  19. Jiminy Cricket Says:

Isn’t that t-shirt considered a hate crime? Is “Gay” even PC anymore? LOL…

  20. SweetTeaMob Til I DIE Says:

I can’t stand Vandy but I have to admit, I let out a chuckle when I saw this.. I think its kinda funny.

  21. BigblueJon Says:

Ooooooh, Drew I think #12 is onto something!

  22. Frankthetank Says:

that’s actually pretty funny. I took a few minutes to troll on their website. I think I made all 4 of them pretty upset. Bottom line here is they hate UK for many reasons. Most of those reasons revolve around us owning their sorry a$$es. However, some of the hate stems from the fact that there is a UK bar on the corner just down the street from whatever that sh*tbox is called the Vandy plays in.
Bottom line here is, F Vandy. Let the beatdown commence!

  23. John Denver Says:

    @12 – It’s already out. Can’t believe they haven’t been shut down

    http://www.cafepress.com/uk2gay

  24. Bethel University cross country runner Says:

15:) apparently they like flicking palyers off instead at games lol they need to get some class. maybe a t-shirt that says lets be the cats or something would be a whole lot better lol

  25. Anything but Gatorade Says:

    A) I’d love to know where you heard Vandy was actually going to do that, because I seriously doubt Vandy fans are actually going to print or wear a shirt like that.
    B) Not sure how much you know about Vanderbilt, but they’re hypersensitive about gender/sexual orientation discrimination, to the point that the hot-button issue on their campus all spring has been an administration policy change concerning whether certain fraternities can expel homosexual members based on the language in that fraternity’s constitution.
    C) Again, no way are Vandy fans going to wear a shirt like that to the game.

  26. Cat Head Says:

    Will win by 10.

  27. Platinum Unis Says:

Matt, Drew, somebody let ESPN get ahold of this. Vandy should be humiliated nationally for this idiocy. I’d love to see Stallings response, the ADs response and the Vandy prez’s response once these go viral! Aren’t Vandy kids supposed to be smart? Or at least clever?

  28. youknow Says:

This should upset the LGBT activists.

  29. Grant Hill Says:

    not cool, dude

  30. Richard Simmons Says:

  31. Randomgayguy Says:

I am not happy about this. Not one bit.

  32. Porcino's Says:

Extremely poor taste. Doesn’t surprise me that it’s coming from Vanderbilt fans.

  33. BigblueJon Says:

    UK wins by 15 biggins

  34. Bradley Says:

Gay or not, we’re going to ram something up in Vandy on Saturday night.

  35. MichelleObamasWideAzz Says:

The shirt doesn’t bother me, and wont bother the team.

BUT, there are several ‘groups’ in this country that it will bother. IF this was done by UK kids against another team, espn and all the major media outlets would be camped out in Lexington. Cal and the UK prez would have to apologize.

  36. CatsFan502 Says:

Not sure how the “Harvard of the South” can really endorse this.

  37. Mack Says:

I guess the “smart kids” don’t plan on working for CNN.

  38. TheNappyBoy Says:

For being the nerds of the league, you’d think they would have come up with this 2 years ago when that was relevant. I agree with everyone, let them wear it, and #occup memorial with more blue

  39. Hoss Says:

    DREW!

Post the deadspin article about Jenkins. Please.

  40. Blue Says:

I can’t stand Vandy, but I’m not sure how this is much different than our “Walsh is gay” chant

  41. Hoss Says:

    How progressive of them.

  42. donnie Says:

vandy all time record 1319 -954 58 %. lets move on lol

  43. Bald Guy Says:

Vandy’s creativity gets a D-…. that has got to hurt those nerds

  44. Hoss Says:

    Send this to HuffPo.

Hundreds of offended writers will be falling over themselves to go after a southern school in this very light.

  45. Go Cats Says:

Me thinks I know where Shabazz is headed…

    Recent Interview (http://saxo.highschoolsports.net/article/20120207/ADVERTS/120207001/What-makes-Shabazz-Muhammad-nation-s-No-1-player)

Q: Who do you look up to and why?
A: At the college level, (Kentucky forward) Mike Gilchrist. I’m really close to him.

    Q: What’s your pre-game routine?
A: I always hydrate while listening to music. I’m listening to a lot of Rick Ross right now — the “Rich Forever” mixtape gets my adrenaline flowing. I’m a Drake fan.

So, what do you call a top-rated basketball recruit who looks up to and is close to Mike Gilchrist and listens to Drake? Answer: A Kentucky commit

  46. PeeWee Herman Says:

Oh yeah? I know you are…but what am I?

  47. Hoss Says:

Nooo… send this to Wanda Sykes.

  48. Filmore Says:

25- FAIL. The hot button issue is permitting atheists to be in charge of Christian groups. That university is a complete and total mess.

  49. UPS Says:

Well, costs $20 to have it shipped by gametime on cafepress.com, so that makes for a pretty terrrrible $40 t-shirt.

  50. Willy Wacka Flocka Says:

isn’t any amount of gay too gay?

  51. J-Daddy Says:

Quick someone email this to Doug Gottlieb “or whatever that D-Bags last name is” over at ESPN, I’m sure he’ll want to place an order and he might even pass the story to someone with some cred over there like Andy Katz and they do a story on it. Oh and to the UK fans going to the game, someone smack the living hell out of a Vandy fan if they have that shirt on, they are nerds, it’s not like they are gonna do anything.

  52. Chuck Says:

@27 Vanderbilt has no AD. The position does not exist. No kidding.

  53. Anything but Gatorade Says:

Atheists are not the same thing as homosexuals.

  54. UK Rifle >>>> WVU Rifle Says:

    Dear Mr. Franklin,

It has come to our attention that you reported Vanderbilt students will be using daddy’s money on custom T – shirts to wear to the game. Please be aware of the inaccuracies in your reporting :

#1) “little hearts” as this implies VU students have hearts. To correct your reporting you should substitute “the 3rd world children making the shirts for slave wages have little hearts”

#2) “daddy’s money” implies funding from their parents. To correct your reporting you should substitute “own wallets via large trust funds established by their great grandparents” as Vandy students have their own money and are proud to be in the 1% not having to Occupy Wall Street

#3) “Vanderbilt had fans” implies actual VU students will attend the game. Nothing could be further from the truth as the VU students intend to hire idle Memphis and Tennessee fans to sit in the VU student section and cheer for Vandy. VU students believe in “trickle down” economics and intend to use their wealth to hire the less fortunate at Memphis and Tennessee to work for them at the basketball contest.

    Sincerely,
Worthington Wallingford Westinghouse IV, Esquire – Dewey, Cheetam, & Howe

  55. TheDecker Says:

    23. I like the disclaimer on the site: **These shirts are not meant to be offensive or derogatory. They are only meant to be humorous.**

  56. Vandys brutal Says:

Super creative vandals lol. I that that was a smart people school. Us kentuckians are way more creative than that. I like the intensity tho for a game that means nothin for us haha

  57. Michael Says:

Offensive AND humorless at the same time. Impressive.

  58. Filmore Says:

@53- you are a moron. It has been all over the news. I didn’t equate what you said. God, you are dumb.

  59. meistro Says:

    Dear Vandy,
We are all now dumber for having seen your shirt. Your efforts are feeble at best. Cats by 10. That is all.

  60. DB11 Says:

haha i like it. kinda clever

  61. Roland Says:

Next thing Vandy fans who get in to school on a hardship academic waiver (the Bevis and Butthead crowd) will THINK up is fart jokes.

  62. Conference Call Says:

Please send that to the team, then Cal won’t have to say anything motivating at all. It is kind of funny though. But I would expect more from Vandy students, I thought they were like smart or something.

  63. Seriously Says:

God must hate us then. He doesn’t like gays.9

  64. Anything but Gatorade Says:

58: You must not be paying very close attention to the news, then.

The two links I posted at 48, which you apparently didn’t read, reveal that last fall, BYX, a Christian fraternity, kicked out two guys because they were gay. Vanderbilt, being the PC institution that it tries to be, is now requiring all student organizations to sign a form affirming they will comply with university policies, which require that membership in registered student organizations be open to everyone and that everyone who desires to do so has the opportunity to seek leadership positions in those organizations. Religious organizations like BYX don’t like it because they feel that they should have the right to expel or disallow membership to whoever it wants, consistent with the terms of their constitutions.

Atheism has nothing to do with it.

TL;DR: You really should read more.

  65. s67 Says:

this t shirt is a hate crime

  66. BBNlover Says:

Oh, good grief. Let them be proud and have their little shirts… That way, they’ll have something to dry their tears on when we shut them down.

  67. Liberace Says:

If you aren’t pc, the shirt is funny. Luckily, I am not pc.

  68. Willy Wacka Flocka Says:

    65) No it is not. It would be a hate crime if they strung up a bunch of gays and beat them. Grow a set

  69. Andrew Says:

So their student section will be wearing blue and white shirts? Good thinking, fellas.

  70. Keepin' it Real Says:

Oh, so being an atheist equals being gay? Wow. I must have missed that memo. I’m very impressed with your oustanding depth of accurate and relevant knowledge.

  71. Willy Wacka Flocka Says:

this is a surprisingly extensive collection http://www.cafepress.com/+uk2gay_tshirt_black,433188753

  72. Rupperee Says:

Yeah, Vandy fans like to talk about their urbane wit and sophistication. Then you see this ridiculous shirt. They can be pretty tasteless. I remember in ’98 they were chanting “Which way is East?” towards Nazr Muhammad.

  73. Roland Says:

The shirt workmanship looks good. Great colors. What was that saying a couple of years ago? Something about the future? The Future is now.

  74. Yep Says:

uk2gay? Uk is too happy? Yep! Happy they beat dat ass by 30!! The whole damn city of Nashville is GAY!! Especially on west end!!!

  75. Hoss_Cat Says:

#65 what a wu$$. it’s people like you that make this the most ridiculous politically correct ran country in the world.
That is pretty dang funny. I’d rather us being wearing it about them though.

  76. Filmore Says:

64_ dumbass. Why shouldn’t a Christian organization be permitted to expel……. Say, I don’t know…. An atheist? It is common sense. I am certain you are in favor of a 40 year old man joining the girl scouts too. Freak.

  77. Filmore Says:

    Oops. 65

  78. capnmonkey Says:

If by gay they mean that we as a fan base are full of frivolity and merriment, then yes, UK2GAY

  79. BoDiazSatelliteService Says:

Someone should sic G.L.A.D. on them….

  80. Baldy in Mendo Says:

They’re jackasses if they wear that shirt…but I gotta admit it kinda cracked me up

  81. CAUKFAN Says:

At least our school colors don’t make us look like a bunch of goth freaks!

  82. Naive UK Fan Says:

What’s all the fuss about? The simply says UK is TWICE AS HAPPY as anyone else!

  83. Anything but Gatorade Says:

76: I never took a position on the issue. FWIW, I think organizations should be able to use their own criteria for membership, so I’m not exactly for what the university administration is proposing either. MY POINT WAS that the school is very sensitive to diversity issues, vis a vis its decision to require student organizations to adhere to the new policy and eviscerating their ability to define their own membership.

You’ve developed a nice habit of trying to insult me and then making yourself look like an idiot. Whatcha got next?

  84. Zack Says:

75… i agree totally, you ignorant hillbilly

  85. Catin Nash Says:

It will be fun watching them leave the floor with their tails between their legs. I have season tickets to Vandy men’s games and lets just say their trash talk is elementary level at best………..

  86. Cobb Says:

Anyone who occupies Memorial this Saturday: remember to circle-circle-dot-dot yourself, we don’t need you bringing back cooties.

  87. Big Blue Greenie Says:

19, 67, & 75: Please stop equating being “PC” with “not being a bigot.” These shirts are hateful and we should all acknowledge that. I really do hope that this becomes a story, because it will make Vandy fans look pretty bad. However, I hope no one from the national media looks at these comments, because it is clear that we have more than our fair share of ignorant, bigoted fans. Pretty sad in this day and age. In another generation, our country will look back on people who use “gay” as an insult in much the same way we now look at people who use the N word. Much of this discussion makes me kind of ashamed to be a Kentuckian, I’m sad to say.

  88. adam Says:

they’ve been making these shirts for two years. way to be creative

  89. i'm just sayin Says:

I hate Vandy, but even more, I hate the fact that using the word ‘gay’ on a T shirt will stir up all kinds of groups into a tizzy about how “insensitive” this is.

  90. Chris Says:

Glad they recognize that we are pretty happy (gay) right now with our #1 ranking, talented team and impending victory over they’re school. Also awful nice of them to wear our team colors to the game.

The sun shines bright in the old Kentucky home
    ‘Tis summer, the people are gay;
The corn top’s ripe and the meadow’s in the bloom,

  91. Hoss_Cat Says:

    #75 & #87

obviously in the group of people being referenced in the shirt

  92. Han Says:

First, if the security is on the ball, no one will be wearing those in the arena.

Second, if someone does get them in, prepare to be labeled bigots on national television.

Third, really? The best they can come up with is “gay”? Not only is it lame, anyone with a lick of sense (Vandy is supposed to be the smart school) would see it’ll be labeled a hate crime. I smell lawsuits coming.

  93. CMAM1983 Says:

Maybe I am late posting this. But I believe Alabama got blasted for something not too dissimilar before the BCS National Championship game. The only real difference I observe is that only one team in this match-up is a true national title contender.

    http://noladefender.com/content/lsu-bama-sideshows-hey-homeauxs-t-shirt-disappears-internet

  94. Han Says:

    55) Yeah, the disclaimer’s great. Apparently if 20 gay guys gang rape the guy who made the site, but then they told him it’s meant to be a joke, he’d be okay with it.

  95. john jenkins Says:

    wow

  96. Naive UK Fan Says:

Seriously? Listen to yourselves, you’re argueing about what Vandy’s fans wrote on a shirt. Be it PC, Bigoted, stupid, or just sophmorish, WTF cares? It’s what they wrote, not you or I or any UK fan……THEM. 83, give it a rest friend, who cares what they do in the frat chapters or what they do or concerns on THEIR FREAKIN CAMPUS! it doesn’t concern you nor your life in any way shape or form……UNless you are in the closet…on being a Vandy Fan!

    GO CATS!!!!!!!! UK by 12

  98. wildcat4ever Says:

Not only is this stupid… it is very offensive!!

  99. Anything but Gatorade Says:

My initial point, Naive UK Fan, was that I’m unaware of any connection between the shirt and Vandy students, and that I doubted that there was one given Vandy’s hypersensitivity to discrimination. The shirt is stupid.

  100. kingrex Says:

I need to point out Vandy’s athletes take classes at a small college the university quietly incorporated into their system a few years ago. This whole idea of their athletes taking more scholarly classes than the average college athlete by virtue of them being Vanderbilt is nothing more than a myth.

  101. ZombieLibrarian Says:

    Homophobes.

  102. Raazoul Says:

I just sent an email to the Chancellor of Vanderbilt about the shirts. Honestly I don’t care about gay bashing, but I do however hate the Vandy pussies… I GUARANTEE you won’t be seeing many if any of those shirts in their gym.

  103. angela Says:

Seriously, someone forward this to the ACLU…. or Perez Hilton.

  104. Peyt Says:

Clearly Vanderbilt does not think before they speak! http://www.thinkb4youspeak.com

Thought it was suppose to be some sort of institution of higher learning?

  105. Ryan Says:

They’re going to get in trouble for this. Even the NBA has a PR campaign to snuff out the improper use of the word “gay.” I thought Vandy was supposed to be a good school; can they not think of anything more clever?

  106. kentuckyrules Says:

Nothing wrong with being gay. This will just give the UK gay fan-base something to buy!! :)

  107. gocards Says:

    1) I have not heard of any vanderbilt student ordering this shirt. please, we’re far too intelligent to stoop to that level. Also, the comment that Vandy’s athletes are enrolled in a separate college is complete BS. I’ve had many classes with athletes and I’m a regular student. Also, our most common major on our basketball team is economics. A bit tougher than Undergraduate Studies at UK, hmm? Seriously, do your research and try to summon all of your brain cells to come up with better lies.

  108. k3ntucky_kush Says:

I think tht it will be a big uk seller. For the Gay people in the state to wear, Like to the womens games!
xd ty for the ideal Vandy. who knows it can happen once we blow them out.cant wait to hear cals. comments

  109. Roland Says:

Father of a gay son talking: This is my son. He is gay. Yes, he sux d___s and takes it the ass. I am sooo proud of him.

  110. Who cares? Says:

It’s actually kinda funny. I say let em go for it, if a Cats fan came up with a similar slogan we’d all think it’s funny. Hypersensitivity and political correctness are the last thing college stidents care about. Relax and let em have fun. I’d be more offended if nodoby took shots at the cats, its actually flattering to be feared enough to be hated on.

  111. Derek Says:

LOL….This shirt will be very offensive to all the little liberal Vandy students!

  112. bmac Says:

oh so printing up gay slurs on shirts are ok but uk fans are the disgraceful ones.

  113. JohnTheBlinkyLightStand Says:

Gay UK college students will buy all of their stock before the game.

  114. Raazoul Says:

They think they are smart because the overpay for their education. But Cafepress.com will print up shirts for you but you need to request them. I doubt the people at Cafepress were like “Hey, lets bash UK and Gay people” one day. It was Vandy. And Vandy is pretty famous for having gay folks beaten and bashed, just google Vandy+gay+bashing and see what comes up.

  115. Anything but Gatorade Says:

How do you know it was Vandy?

  116. John Denver Says:

@114 Vandy didn’t get these shirts printed. The shirt has been available since 2010. Must be some other haters out there.

  117. Raazoul Says:

Why is my comment “awaiting moderation”? Is no cursing allowed on this site anymore? Geez sorry, just take the comment down.

  118. Tampa Satchel Says:

We should counter with a shirt that reads:

Cumonadore! You weren’t the first and won’t be the last.

  119. Raazoul Says:

The shirts were not available in Black before. I wonder who wears black…

  120. Anything but Gatorade Says:

    Johnny Cash? The Undertaker? Blade?

  121. Jorge Pancho Says:

” … Tis summer, the people are gay … ” Or so UK fans will be, after the Cats cut down the nets at the SuperDome April 2nd.

  122. Anything but Gatorade Says:

UofL fans? South Carolina fans? Duke fans? Georgia fans? Bengals fans? Tampa Bay Rays fans?

  123. Troy Bristol Says:

**These shirts are not meant to be offensive or derogatory. They are only meant to be humorous.**

  124. floydfan Says:

Isn’t Vanderbilt supposedly “The Harvard of the South”? That’s their version of an intellectual hay-maker?

  125. Mudcat Says:

UK2GAY because, “At 1,487 wins, in 25 seasons we’ll have 2,000 wins too!” wouldn’t fit.
Or perhaps, “Stop winning so much or I’ll give you such a pinch!”
Cat fans could wear their, “Kentucky Wildcats: Well Rested Because Thursday’s Suck” t-shirts.

  126. Participant Says:

To #107, our first 6 will hire your Economics majors to manage the money from the multi-milllion dollar contracts they will get.

Or perhaps you will not lower yourself to take an actual job after you graduate.

  129. shields eyes Says:

UK theatre department has already bought them out.

  130. Mudcat Says:

That shirt is incomplete. It should read: “UK2GAY: Because Winning Makes Us Happy”.

  131. J.C. Says:

What a lame representation by members of a so-called ‘Elite’ educational institution. Creativity is truly lacking with this pitiful attempt to rattle the UK JUGGERNAUT that is going to pound their team into the floorboards of their architecturally-challenged gym.

  132. Bob Loblaw Says:

Since these are blue and white, I know a few gay UK fans that would probably love to have these.

  133. bigcat76 Says:

I believe we should report this to the Gay Rights folks. Then we could really have fun watch Vandy fans “take one” for the team. It would be a field day complete with marches, protests, and more rainbows than that crazy double rainbow guys ever thought about tripping out on.

  134. snarkster Says:

If this is indeed the shirt, it will just be more people wearing Blue and White (alng with the real UK fans) – our guys may think its a home game. Could backfire too. If UK puts a thumping on them, they’ll be saying we just got our asses handed to us by a team of 2GAY guys.

  135. dude Says:

They do realize that when the camera pans at a distance they are going to look like regular UK fans, right? I thought these people were smart? Vandy, the nerds of the SEC.

  136. Anthony Davis Has A Posse Says:

Didn’t they see Grant Hill’s PSA?

The guy that made this is obviously the coolest kid in the second grade.

In all seriousness, it is pretty childish to use “gay” as a insult in everyday speech, much less put it on a T-shirt to show broadcast your ignorance.

Sigh. Vandy. Your gym is terrible and smells bad, your football team is a perennial whipping boy, your girls are by FAR the ugliest in the conference, the size and passion of your fan base is a joke. Really the only thing you had going for you was being the SEC’s token “smart” school. How can you do something that makes you look SO DUMB?

  137. shameful Says:

it is embarrassing to read the bigoted small minded responses of Kentucky fans.

  138. Hey there bubbas! Says:

For all of you UK fans that believe the UK2GAY shirt is something a Vandy student just created….Google “UK2GAY t-shirt”. Looks like that shirt has been available since AT LEAST Feb. 18, 2010. On multiple sites too. No need to feel special about this one.

  139. Hey there bubbas! Says:

The bloggers? ranters? of this site should be ashamed of themselves for implying something that was created AT LEAST 2 years ago, by who knows who, was a current work of Vanderbilt or a Vanderbilt student. Learn a little journalistic integrity. A moronic frat kid at ANY school could do something like this. Since there is evidence this shirt has existed for quite some time it is irresponsible to report it as they have done.

  140. RetepAdam Says:

Uh… yeah, I go to Vanderbilt, and I’ve never seen those shirts before in my life. Who exactly is promoting these shirts? I doubt you’ll see a single one on Saturday.

  141. Sheeeeiiit Says:

If this PC stuff keeps up Rudy G#y will have to change his last name. Or else networks will need to bleep out the use of his last name.

  142. siluah Says:

I’m with #137, it is shameful. My gay friends are some of the nicest and best people I have ever met. People need to grow up and stop acting like someone else’s sexual orientation is going to affect their lives. It’s ignorant.

  143. Walsh is Gay Says:

To all the butthurt(pun intended.. I mean come on, look at my name) Vandy fans saying that no Vandy student would ever wear this; get over yourselves. Good lord, of course they will. It’s a sizable arena with a decent student body. News flash – some students are idiots, regardless of where they go. Vandy has bigots and imbeciles just like Kentucky, UT, UGA, and all the rest.

I’d be shocked if it wasn’t some facebook group, or student organization or something who stumbled upon the shirts and thought they were way more clever than they actually are. So of course Vandy students or alumni are involved, and of course a few will wear them to the game. It’d be far more surprising if they didn’t.

I know you have school spirit and rah-rah whatever, but be real People aren’t all good. Sorry.

  144. Bob Says:

Didn’t Roland Martin lose his job at CNN because of a gay slur he made about the Beckham Super Bowl commercial?

  145. gog8ors Says:

That is just too funny! Hilarious how UK fans say that is low class and want to take the high road when someone makes fun of them but think nothing about chanting “Walsh is gay.” I hope the shirts are a huge hit.

  146. anthony Says:

It’s 2012. The Y2K kind of stuff is WELL PAST clever or funny. Those morons should be embarrassed.

  147. Show Me Says:

Where does it say these are being done by Vandy students? Please show me evidence.

  148. kt Says:

    uk2JEALOUS

  149. Show Me Says:

Sorry, but these shirts have been around for at least two years. Not a Vandy thing. Google it.

  150. UK Commodore Says:

I fail to see the connection between this shirt and Vandy, and I would like to see some proof. As a Vandy alum and current UK student, I see this as hate mongering for the game this weekend, and irresponsible journalism by Matt Jones and his flunkies. Shame on you.

  151. Yup Says:

This is a cute way to garner comments Mr. Franklin. To drive home your point about the childish nature of Vanderbilt fans you should probably link to hard evidence, or do more than one minute of research before making hateful posts. I should probably be admonished for expecting any sort of journalistic integrity from a UK fansite, or even to expect coherent posts (I have found neither), although I did not expect bigotry to be included in the mix.

For those of you who go/went to UK (or, perish the thought, one of the directional Kentucky schools) then you probably never learned about yellow journalism. I would hope that you all would try to find better bloggers or reporters to get news and facts from concerning such derisive issues. http://oxforddictionaries.com/definition/yellow+journalism

P.S. nice comic sans on the comment headers, it really puts a professional spin on this whole website.

  152. too easy Says:

Wouldn’t it be easy to print “FUVU” by altering the FUBU logo????

  153. UKCourt44 Says:

Hey… it’s kind of flattering… they’re wearing OUR colors on those shirts. :P

  154. Dukesucks Says:

People will cry over anything it just a damn shirt. Get your big person pants on get a sense of humer . 150 grow up crybaby

  155. Beth casey Says:

Just sent the link to a Cornelius Vanderbilts great grandson Anderson Cooper on Twitter. Maybe we can get them on The Rediculist on AC360

  156. Me Says:

I think the shirt is pretty ironic (even if Vandy didnt come up with it)… Considering that they’ll be the ones “taking it” on Saturday

  157. Derek Says:

#151 this site is not meant to be proffesional. This is not the Wall Street Journal. This site is mean to be fun. Something you probally only have while ironing your collars.
Most of us don’t care about what type of journalism it is. I am a reader.

  158. Show Me Says:

#157 Except that this non-story/outright lie has been picked up by other media.

  159. Eloy the Barbarian Says:

Did a 13 year old boy come up with that

  160. Walsh Says:

Too bad these shirts were pulled from the website. The good news is the print is able to saved. I think we should alter this shirt a little though. Maybe put a picture of IU’s game winning shot by Watford that includes when Teague had his face buried lips deep in Miller’s azz while they were both getting burnt.

  161. Bigukfan1 Says:

All of these comments were my afternoon entertainment, along with the stupid shirts the stupid Vandy fans created in their flash of pseudo-brilliance! To quote the incomparable Forrest Gump (who probably would have been a VU grad, were he a real person), “Stupid is as stupid does.” Stay hot, Commodorks.

  162. Show Me Says:

I hope someone slaps KSR with a lawsuit for this.
