Waiting until the moment that no one would read it due to Super Bowl parties everywhere, Jeff Goodman came on the scene Sunday night with some important UK news. The new 2012 #1 player Nerlens Noel will visit UK on the weekend of Feb 18. He is coming into town as part of the Ole Miss game weekend and will spend Friday and Saturday on campus. This weekend will be his last visit, after seeing Syracuse and Providence as well. Big news for UK as they try to get a final push for the best shot blocker I have ever seen in the high school game.

Giants beat the Patriots…Good news on Noel…It’s been a pretty good Sunday with all things considered.
February 5th, 2012 at 10:40 pm
Like Eli, I did it.
February 5th, 2012 at 10:41 pm
Wes 5 thumbs Welker cost the Pats a title
February 5th, 2012 at 10:42 pm
I would love for this man to come to UK.
February 5th, 2012 at 10:46 pm
Come on down and take AD’s spot at the “Big Blue Nation”.
Go get him Cal!
February 5th, 2012 at 10:46 pm
Does UK getting his final visit indicate anything about our chances of getting him?
February 5th, 2012 at 10:47 pm
Noel is very excited to be visiting Lexington….he is no longer interested in UConn.
February 5th, 2012 at 10:49 pm
Nerlens could be the NEXT big thing in Lexington!!
February 5th, 2012 at 10:50 pm
With Syracuse having too many big men and UConn not in the mix, I would think we are the heavy favorite for his services. You have got to think he see’s how Anthony Davis has done this year and can see himself doing the same.
February 5th, 2012 at 10:50 pm
He should be able to see a good old fashioned beat down of the Rebs.
February 5th, 2012 at 10:51 pm
Noel is an intelligent young man. UK would be the perfect school to showcase his talents.
February 5th, 2012 at 10:52 pm
This is great news! I think it’s always an advantage to be the last visit.
February 5th, 2012 at 11:00 pm
Hey Matt, this is great news….hopefully we will get this guy.
February 5th, 2012 at 11:01 pm
The ADavis effect! Not sure if Noels is better than Shabazz, but after the year our man Davis has had, everyone wants a long thin shot blocker with plenty of upside. Hope we see him in blue and white next year.
February 5th, 2012 at 11:03 pm
Cal will get him. Book it. Done.
February 5th, 2012 at 11:04 pm
Noel would be a perfect fit at UK.
Bring him in.
February 5th, 2012 at 11:05 pm
I truly think that he has us as his favorite and just want to look at his options and then shortly after he visit us he will commit in next few weeks unless something just blows his mind which wont happen so you should just peg him down as a commit
February 5th, 2012 at 11:05 pm
Cal has got this. Now, work on Shabazz.
February 5th, 2012 at 11:07 pm
We have him in the bag. Bazz will want success and follow Noel here. Bennett will follow afterward, thus the Kentucky effect!!!!
February 5th, 2012 at 11:16 pm
GO CATS!!!!
February 5th, 2012 at 11:16 pm
With Goodwin and Poythress…if we get Nerlens, Bazz, and Bennett..Wow that class could be as good as this year’s class, and with Cal being in good with the top stars in the 2013 class, the future looks great!!
February 5th, 2012 at 11:17 pm
Duke lost. Giants won. Nerlens Noel will be a Cat.
What’s next, Lindsay Lohan doing the naked backwards crab-walk?
February 5th, 2012 at 11:19 pm
Gosh, I miss Billy Clyde!
February 5th, 2012 at 11:23 pm
There will never b another Anthony Davis , did anybody pay attention to that crazy catch and dunk that he did when he caught the ball where he shouldn’t of had a chance to dunk but he did!! Crazy hands , the kid is special and we haven’t seen nothing yet! I do hope we get Noel but he won’t b the threat Davis is on both ends.
February 5th, 2012 at 11:23 pm
its hard for me to even fathom a kid with better shot blocking ability than Davis right now.
Who does UK need more – Shabazz or Nerlens?
February 5th, 2012 at 11:23 pm
Believe!!!!!!
February 5th, 2012 at 11:24 pm
Hey Nerlens! Saving the best for last, huh? See you in UK blue big fella!
February 5th, 2012 at 11:29 pm
Wow. Imagine Noel coming and Cauley backing him up next year, than add Teague maybe, harrow, Kyle, Goodwin, poythress, shabazz? Bennett? Wow!!!!!
February 5th, 2012 at 11:30 pm
Noel, you’ve seen what Cal lets Davis do. Davis is going #1. Come make your mark as he has.
24) The important thing to remember is that Davis had a massive growth spurt and only faced real competition as a big man briefly on the AAU circuit. He’s still getting better and stronger and if he were to spend 2-3 years in college, he’d smash Varnado’s records, etc. Noel may very well be a more complete shot blocker right now than Davis is.
But if he truly is, he’ll be a legend, because Davis already is.
UK has had 2 once-in-a-generation players in Wall and Davis, and you could argue MKG, too, because of his attitude and willingness to play hard d and not get the spotlight offensively.

Coach Cal is barely beating WV’s Huggie by 1% in the Infiniti Coaches Charity challenge. You can vore once per day. Vote for Cal at:

February 5th, 2012 at 11:33 pm
That’s a helluva lot of freshmen!!! This guy has the attitude and swagger to come here. I hope he does. Looking forward to watching him.
February 5th, 2012 at 11:33 pm
28) Unless Teague really wants to work on something, he’s gone. His numbers right now are better than most people realize and might be good enough for first round in the coming draft. If he continues to improve as Knight did last year, he is gone. Lamb and Jones should both be. Only scholarship people coming back, barring injury or a major letdown this year, are Hood and Wiltjer.
February 5th, 2012 at 11:33 pm
22. I loathe everything that u are..
But dang that post was classic..!
February 5th, 2012 at 11:33 pm
Hey, KSR staff – rally the troops so Coach Cal’s charity can win the cash.
February 5th, 2012 at 11:35 pm
32) If we somehow add Bazz, Noel and Bennett to Goodwin, Poythress and Cauley, unless there’s a 2-year rule, you can guarantee at least 3 of them are one-and-done. Then we bring in the Harrisons, Randle and a couple others.
February 5th, 2012 at 11:35 pm
23) Tell me about it. I miss Billy Clyde more than you could possibly know.
February 5th, 2012 at 11:36 pm
How many times must I say it? Shabazz and Noel are already Cats. Cal is just toying with everyone else. Don’t worry a second about these two studs. All we’re trying to do is get Bennett to come along for the ride. The rest of the class is….and has been set. for awhile.
February 5th, 2012 at 11:37 pm
#29 that’s what I’m talking about Davis hasnt been playing the post for a total of a year and is doing what he’s doing to division 1 players who have been playing the post all there careers
February 5th, 2012 at 11:45 pm
In CAL we trust!! Enjoy the ride BBN!! GO CATS!!
February 5th, 2012 at 11:55 pm
Lamb will be back!
February 6th, 2012 at 12:37 am
I hope Lamb stays another year. he is awesome….
February 6th, 2012 at 3:53 am
lamb aint baaahd
February 6th, 2012 at 5:18 am
Leon
February 6th, 2012 at 6:35 am
39) That’s the point. Davis is still improving, but it’s perfectly reasonable for Noel to be better at blocking shots in high school right now than Davis was last year. Especially since Davis didn’t have any defenders like Jones or MKG on his team to help keep the offense honest.
February 6th, 2012 at 8:59 am
Who in their right mind thinks we will actually get Shabazz, Noel, AND Bennett?? I’m thinking one is a sure thing and two if we’re lucky.
February 6th, 2012 at 10:24 am
Shabazz, Noel, Bennett, Poythress Goodwin???? Very well could be…..there’s safety in numbers. Not only do you go up against the best of the best in practice each day, you get into the games and most likely you’ve got one-on-one matchup’s because other teams can’t afford to slack off one guy to double team another. This years team is the perfect example. 5-8 really good players sharing minutes and spreading the wealth benefits them all vs. being a one-man show somewhere else.
