We’ve mentioned Willie Cauley’s relationship with former Kansas City Chief Will Shields before, but in case you missed it, Yahoo! Sports told the story all over again its ‘The Post Game’ blog.
Cauley is currently living with the soon-to-be NFL Hall of Famer in Kansas City while he finishes up his senior season at Olathe Northwest. Will and Senia Shields are now Willie’s legal guardians, and their 17-year old son is Willie’s best friend and basketball teammate at Olathe. Willie still has a good relationship with his biological mother — who lives in Oklahoma City — but the Shields family took him in so he could get a better education and play in a more competitive basketball environment.
I’ll let Yahoo! tell you the rest.
Imagine having to answer to this guy when you don’t check in at night…

I am sure Tipton will have to put his 2 cents in on this one.

Willie’s hand is about at the top level of the white box above the rim WOW

money says the NCAA passes legislation outlawing such guardianships.
January 30th, 2012 at 11:36 am
The NCAA will find some way to say UK cheated even though nothing was done wrong and if it were it has nothing to do with UK.
January 30th, 2012 at 11:36 am
That has to be a nine foot goal, right?
January 30th, 2012 at 11:39 am
Ok. Great pic but if you think that is a ten foot goal.. I got some oceanfront property down here in east kentucky for sale cheap!
January 30th, 2012 at 11:39 am
If there was any cheating going on then he’d had gone to Kansas.

#7- Or Uconn….

It’s called an optical illusion. If you were to bring the camera up to the actual level of the ball, you would see he is well under the top of the white box.
January 30th, 2012 at 11:49 am
That’s a 10′ goal. Willie Cauley is long and the camera angle makes it look like he is higher than what he probably is.
January 30th, 2012 at 12:04 pm
He’s a 7′ guy jumping in the air with his arm extended. It really doesn’t seem that far-fetched that his hand could be a decent piece above the rim.

#4 I would say you are exactly right
January 30th, 2012 at 12:35 pm
Everyone is saying exactly what I’ve been thinking for awhile now. NCAA morons will find something wrong with this guardianship, and hand out the death penalty.

6 – if you’re really dumb enough to think they’d go through the trouble of lowering a goal to take a picture with full uniforms, putting cheerleaders and fans in the background, and you really have land you’d like to sell, CALL ME.
January 30th, 2012 at 12:40 pm
13 – UK has a compliance staff who’s sole job is to make sure this type of thing doesn’t happen. Have confidence that if some fans that aren’t getting paid to worry about compliance thought about this, they will get the NCAA involved with full disclosure prior to Willie stepping foot on the practice court.

Drew,we want you to know it’s “17-year-old.” Love the effort though!
January 30th, 2012 at 12:56 pm
6. Right. High school tourneys are commonly played on 9 ft goals. Everyone knows that…oh wait, they don’t? Nevermind, you’re dumb then.
