Solomon Poole is a problem

by @ 12:20 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

With no disrespect to Stacey, Solomon Poole is without a doubt the better of the Poole brothers on the basketball court. Rivals.com ranks him as the No. 9 overall player in the class of 2013, and some will tell you UK only recruited Stacey Poole to get in with his younger brother. But now that Stacey has transferred from UK to Georgia Tech, any hope of landing the elite guard from Florida is probable gone.

It looks like that was a blessing in disguise, Cats fans.

Solomon Poole was just suspended by the FHSAA for the rest of the season for his conduct on the court. Poole has been ejected from two games this season, with the most recent one coming on Friday in a road game at Bishop Kenny after he picked up two technicals. He received his first technical for using profanity on the court and then got his second one for cursing at the refs from the bench and purposely squirting his water bottle on the court during the game.

Poole was suspended for two games back in November, again for profanity on the court, and warned of a potential second-level suspension if he didn’t straighten up. Now he has that second-level suspension and he’ll miss the remainder of his junior season.

This was a kid I was excited about six months ago, when he was having a good summer and Stacey was still on the team.

Now we can be glad he’ll end up squirting water on the floor from someone else’s bench.

does anyone know if the UK bar in Louisville is still open? I think it was called Big Blue Country…. I will be in town saturday for the Boat show and then i am heading downtown to watch the UK game

  8. BlueFins Says:

Sounds like the perfect UL recruit. I think he had them on his list. Much like his brother, he won’t get to play much as a Freshman.

  9. UKFanInCincy Says:

SO it looks like Big Blue Country is closed in Louisville. Can someone tell me where the best place to watch the game on saturday is in downtown Louisville.

    Thanks

  10. Phil Says:

Most (if not all bars) are UK friendly. Is there such thing as a Louisville friendly bar? Even in Louisville?

  11. uk3k Says:

sounds like we should be glad that he will be somebody else’s problem.

That being said dont forget that their were all sort of issues with boogie in highschool.

    5. I don’t know that Stacey was a problem. He wanted to stay with the Cats. His father insisted on him transfering. The big problem was the timing. By waiting until the school year began to express his displeasure with his son’s PT, he cost us the expense of a scholarship for the fall. In return for this we got nothing. Stacey will have to spend 4 years, to get 2 and a half years of elgibility. (Half a school year at Kentucky and the rest at Ga Tech.) Worst of all, (for Kentucky) because he waited until after the school year to begin the process of transfering, NCAA rules won’t allow us to use that scholarship on anyone else for the entire school year. Had a scholarship been available for him, I believe Jarnell Stokes would now be a Wildcat instead of a Vol.

    #12. You have right.

While I am happy he won’t be coming here, the thing you all have to understand is Cal will occasionally bring in guys like this. And while I’ll be the first person to defend them, players like Cousins and Jones (occasional attititude issue) are going to happen as long as Cal is here. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not criticizing him, he sees these guys as needing guidance and welcomes the challenge. I like that about him…and honestly…I like having the talent. I will also grant you that this guy sounds like he’s not even in the same league as the forementioned players, but we will get more Poole’s in the future and we might have to start defending them like we do Demarcus. (but man I’m glad we didn’t get that guy who broke his baby mama’s back)

I’m sure Bob Thuggins has already seen him play a dozen times. Sounds like a typical WVU, Tennessee, or UofL recruit to me. He also just may tantrum himself onto a Div. II team.

  16. Rob Says:

Looks like a good fit for Loserville…

  17. UKMathCat Says:

We get guys with attitude problems, too (Boogie, anyone?). Usually Cal does a pretty good job with them. I don’t think this means Solomon is a bad kid, and Stacey was a class act by all accounts. I think maybe some of the temper tantrum, entitlement behavior might stem from his father…

  18. Mack Says:

Not a surprise that Soloman acts this way considering the style of his dad, the surprise is that Stacey from all reports is a good kid.

  20. Apathetic Andy Says:

Sad his attitude can’t match athletic talent level. We’ll see ya on Louisville’s bench I guess.

Dude looks like he wants to fight the photographer.

Cincinnati here I come!! We gangsta down here too!!

    17. Boogie had an attitude on the court where he needed to have one. Out in public one of the nicest people you will ever meet.

  24. sunnycat Says:

    12. Stokes isn’t that big of a loss. Could we use him sure but I ain’t getting on the Stokes band wagon just because he had a good game against the Cats…….The Vols are still losing with him.

  25. kal Says:

teague had pretty much all the same problems as this clown

  26. Bubba Hotep Says:

I love how soon as UK does not get someone, it becomes a blessing in disguise. If this kid went to UK over UL you all would be posting dumb shit UL fans said about not wanting him after missing out. Grow up
