Julius Randle Likes UK

by @ 12:00 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

Jeff Borzello of CBS Sports talked to Julius Randle, the second ranked player by Scout in the class of 2013, recently and he seemed to be very  pro-UK at this point in his recruitment. Randle told Borzello that he doesn’t have a list, but has taken a few unofficial visits. Earlier this year, he traveled down Tobacco Road seeing North Carolina, Duke and North Carolina State. While Randle told Borzello that about any school you can name is recruiting him, he singled out Kentucky and Texas as two schools that he definitely wants to visit.

Of Kentucky, Randle said, “I like the versatility of the players they have”. He also described John Calipari when talking about what he wants in his ideal coach, “A coach that will push me,” he said. “He’s not going to always tell me what I want to hear, but what I need to hear. Someone that will make me the best player I can be.”

The class of 2013 is shaping up to be the greatest in a long time. Already analysts have said that the top three of Jabari Parker, Randle and Nerlens Noel would be bigger gets than even Shabazz Muhammad in 2012. Not only is Kentucky in a good position with those three, three more players in the top ten, Troy Williams, Aaron Harrison and Andrew Harrison, are all considering UK at the top of their list with many other top fifteen players listing interest. Not to mention four-star Derek Willis who is set to announce his college choice tomorrow afternoon.

2013 is ready to provide college basketball with one of the deepest hauls in a long time and UK looks primed to claim another recruiting title.

He may be a nice kid, but I’m sorry, I don’t want a one armed player.

  2. SexnNursinHomes Says:

1-Not worried about his one arm as much as I am about him having no legs. How will he run the court?

2013- is absolutely going to be sick. Sure hope the Mayans are wrong..

  3. the cat 24 Says:

were gonna get 4 or 5 players in the top ten along with Derrick Willis, which will be an incredible class.

  4. MIKE Says:

    LETS GET SHABAZZ FIRST…please…

  5. #ohnohedidnt Says:

is recruiting even fair anymore to the rest of the country?

  6. over the hill and far away Says:

Recruting titles are great, but dammit we need a NCAA championship title !

  7. Charles Says:

The recruiting climate is ablaze and Cal was recently spotted sporting fine pin-striped hosiery with ultra-blue turkadots! Not only can he recruit, he can dress the part as well.

  8. Marcus L. Owens Says:

This was on CBSsports.com on tuesday.

  9. T.J. Says:

1 & 2- Who cares about all of that. He is making the ball float in mid air with his mind!

  10. SexnNursinHomes Says:

9- nice! So we are recruiting a Jedi?

  11. T.J. Says:

10- Either that, or Krang from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

  12. RicksAuntWithGoodEyes Says:

I haven’t seen Julius play yet, but did anyone else think that Jabari Parker looked a little lazy in the espn game over the weekend?

  13. Me Says:

Jim Calhoun on espn – in studio. Chatting it up. Mother F’er. Dude is in ncaa trouble all the time and he gets air time on espn?

I soooo wish another media outlet could build up and squash espn.

  14. Sammydog Says:

I have never understood how Calhoun can be charged with recruiting violations and lack of institutional control by the NCAA yet he gets a pass from the NCAA and the national sports writers while Cal has never been charged for anything yet he is considered a rogue coach. Can anyone explain this?

  15. HOO HOO Says:

Claim another recruiting title, but lose to the HOO HOO HOO HOOSIERS

  16. SexnNursinHomes Says:

15- yeah we lost, what is your record against UK in the last 20 yrs? That’s what I thought. STFU little boy and go back to your momma’s tit.

  17. Siddartha Says:

I hadn’t taken into account Randle’s psychic powers. This puts an entirely different spin on things- perhaps forever in the game of basketball as we know it.

And Hoo Hoo, come back to planet earth- 3 losses in a row, and Clappy the Clown just might be able to get you to a 4th 20-loss season in a row. And that’s coming after Sampson’s NCAA violations. Indiana basketball lucked into a couple of home-cooked wins, but remains a national embarrasment.

  18. over the hills and far away Says:

Hoo Hoo: can you tell me what the final score of your game was last night again ? Can you possibly break down the loss for me and expalin why your powerhouse hoosiers lost to Nebraska !

  19. Charles Says:

    Hey HOO HOO,

Yes, we will continue to claim recruiting titles, be the hottest program in college basketball and yes, win a few more titles.

By the way, Kentucky owns you and your Hoosiers are like what 3-4 in the Big Nothing??

Now, Go suck on Knights Co@#$%^&^CK

  20. over the hills and far away Says:

    Hoo Hoo:

Another thing as I recall your bashing of KY hillbillies. Last time I checked and was in Bedford, IN which is REAL CLOSE to Bloomington, it is chock full of hilly billies, Wal-Mart, and a Golden Corral

  21. HOO HOO Says:

Indiana 73 Kentucky 72….men lie, women lie, numbers don’t!

  22. Han Says:

    15) You’ve lost how many now?

    21) Last second 3 pointers are clear indicators of dominance.

  23. over the hills and far away Says:

    Go Cornhuskers !!!

  24. Yroc53 Says:

You’re right numbers dont lie…. UK 7 to IU 5

  25. over the hills and far away Says:

I have somehow become an instant Nebraska fan.

  26. old_tool Says:

Great more one and done’s for 2013. Its barely 2012. Why can’t we be more like Indiana and get 3 star players who will stay 4 years, learn to grow corn and understand that dressing like a clown is hot. Calipari can’t coach. We would’ve lost to Nebraska by 10 last night, their players care more about education and what it takes to be……….whoa just blacked out. sorry. colostomy bag broke. gotta go…

  27. Eric K Says:

COACH CAL will have the CATS in line for the #1 class every year he is here, get use to it!! GO CATS!!

  28. Can't wait Says:

People underestimate how great 2012 will be. Take what we have an add Shabazz and Bennett and that class is stacked. Poythress is a man, Period. Archie might be te best pure shooting guard Cal has had at UK (no offense Eric and doron). This clad will be the most well rounded. A power player in Bennett, a defensive long center in Cauley, a slasher/finisher in Shabazz, a pure athletic 2 guard in Archie and a third year vet pg in Harrow. That five is nasty for first year players. Don’t forget we will being keeping Kyle and marquis with possibly Doron. Don’t be surprised if we add Parker also. We will need inside presents and there are minutes. The future is plenty bright for BBN.

  29. Eric K Says:

#1 Recruiting class, come on down, you now play for the KENTUCKY WILCATS!!! GO CATS!!

  30. Beatle Bum Says:

Having a one armed player would be radically cool!!

  31. STEVE! Says:

21 – HOO HOO, you are absolutely correct, and here are some more numbers:

    UK IU
    2010 81 62
    2009 90 73
    2008 72 54
    2006 59 54
    2004 73 58
    2003 80 41
    2002 70 64
    2001 66 52
    2000 88 74
    1998 70 61
    1997 75 72
    1996 99 65
    1995 89 82
    1994 73 70

Do you need some more numbers?

  32. underKanter Says:

    31 i like those numbers..

But for this post. what about 2013 Top 10 Chris Walker who’s a stud and loves UK, or Top 30 Kuran Iverson? i think we can do better then Willis

  33. j Says:

i agree with #32, there is much better than willis in the 2013 class
