Earlier this week, a State Senator from Louisville named Tim Shaughnessy proposed a bill that would require Kentucky and Louisville to play each other every year in football and basketball. Yesterday John Calipari was asked about the bill before he spoke to a group of legislators and according to Kentucky.com, he said:
“I would hope they (lawmakers) don’t think I need help scheduling,” Calipari said shortly before he spoke Thursday at an annual UK-sponsored lunch for lawmakers. “I hope they have more important things to do.”

The Kentucky Senate has been an embarrassment to the state ever since David Williams took it over.

As usual, Cal is right again. Of all the problems in this state financially and otherwise, and they want to worry about which schools play each other in sports. Typical political BS sticking their nose where it has no business. Gimme a break.

Louisville. Just stop it.
Pathetic.

RickyP was on tv after his radio show and said he did not want the bill, and Frankfort should worry about other things. They as so tracked down Shaughnessy and he was backing off of it by saying he just put the UK-UL playing each other to draw interest in the rest of the bill. So I guess he knows adding that to the bill will kill the bill, good logic there Shaughnessy?

This is how it works. They love to slip in a little something at the end or hide an obscure mention amongst 700 pages of jargon in hopes that no one notices until after it passes. Sometimes it’s something silly like this but most of the time it is very dire.
Check out the N d a a.

I agree they have more important things to deal with besides UK Basketball

If it was just a picture of homeboy on the right…I would think this picture was from 1972. Sweet haircut…gotta love the whiteboy flat top

Typical political BS. Say one thing then back off of it faster than a check at a resturant handed to him. This guy come next election should be handed the door to him.

If newspapers don’t exist, where would KSR post links from?

I say we continue finding and talking about earmarks… it’s common knowledge that politicians dont read bills that they vote on. if every earmark gets talked about publicly before the bills are voted on we might be able to keep America free and the way our forefathers intended.
Or I guess half of us could watch the kardashians and the other half could spend their free time in fantasy sports… That would allow central banks to officially make the US a subsidiary and tool of the UN. we can either smarten up and pay attention or look the other way while elitist networks reach their goal of dissolving boarders

OMG. I see posts from people who don’t know the difference between the state legislature and the US Congress and people posting on a UK sports forum who don’t know Richie Farmer when they see him. Obviously they are uniformed in UK sports and Kentucky politics.

If they are going to force us to play them, they should be forced to ensure that all facilities are equal. That way, UK would have to get a new areana, like the Yum center!
January 6th, 2012 at 9:54 am
Don’t we have enough F’ing laws????
January 6th, 2012 at 9:57 am
16. You are reading a sports website, by the way. Thanks for your attempt to enlighten us all politically, but I’m pretty certain our forefathers intended for Louisville to play UK every year. And Jesus himself gave bountiful proportions of rump to Kim kardashian.
Undoubtedly, I think your best line included advice to “smarten up”; No irony there
January 6th, 2012 at 10:03 am
Maybe we should add to this bill…….if you don’t pay taxes or if you receive welfare you can’t vote in any election. This eliminates dumb a$$e$ from voting for politicians like Shaughnessy
January 6th, 2012 at 10:21 am
(I love Cal and what he has done here already, Really.)
But it is funny, that Cal doesn’t want it to look like anyone has a say in anything he does. Control freak? Why do I bet his wife actually rules the roost on the home front.
PS, I do NOT think politicians should have ANY say in ANYthing related to sports. Politicians are the only people more corrupt than the NCAA – well maybe with the exception of used car salesmen and rick pitino.

I propose a Law that keeps Lawmakers away from SPORTS. Quit spending Taxpayer$ money on trying to prove Roger Clemens used steroids,BCS is unfair & who should play who. Budget OUR MONEY, create JOBS,Protect and educate our children POINT BLANK PERIOD

If Saturday brings out the boo birds from a certain section of Rupp Arena, we’ll at least know where all the politicians seats are.
January 6th, 2012 at 10:59 am
How bout tryin to get more jobs in the state rather than tryin to help Cal do his?! I mean, come on, is this what we pay these clowns to do?
January 6th, 2012 at 11:13 am
Meth labs and the Cayats……idiot politicians. Way to go Cal !!!
January 6th, 2012 at 11:14 am
If you know any politicians you should publicly mock them if you have any sense. They’ll take it like a sheep because they need your vote!!
January 6th, 2012 at 11:28 am
17- What does a Kentucky politics uniform look like?
January 6th, 2012 at 11:47 am
Government does WAY too much in general. Keep it simple. Do not legislate anything that does not REQUIRE it.
January 6th, 2012 at 12:42 pm
Richie: “Coach Cal, Are you going to let me play tonight?”
Coach Cal: “Richie, as long as you don’t go along with us having to play Louisville forever!”
January 6th, 2012 at 2:20 pm
Vote this MF’er out!

Someone tell Richie that the only place his haircut is still in style is, Indiana. Come on Farmer, you look like a Hoosier.
