Then There Were Two: Finalists for Top Blogger!

by @ 4:40 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

contest

So the semifinals are over and it is time to announce our final two. We started with 133 submissions, cut it down to 15 contestants and now have whittled it down to these two finalists:

Corey Robertson and Hunter Campbell

First of all, we want to congratulate both young men. They will have quite a battle in the finals, scheduled for next week. We also want to congratulate Chris Minton and Tyler Thompson for making it this far and both could have easily been the overall winners in another contest. We ended up picking these two after a (lengthy) conversation last night, in which a debate ensued about who were the top two contestants, and whether anyone should allow Beisner out in public again. Here is how the voting ended up:

FANS: Tyler and Hunter
Matt: Corey and Chris
Mosley: Corey and Hunter
Beisner: Corey and Hunter
Evan: Corey and Tyler
Tomlin: Corey and Chris

Both Chris and Tyler had two votes to move on, but it was Hunter’s selection by Mosley (the last to vote) that ensured his movement into the next round. All five judges agreed that Corey was the overall best and thus Hunter won by the hair of his chinny, chin chin.

So we now move onto the finals. On one day next week, both Hunter and Corey will be in charge of producing an entire afternoon’s worth of blogs. We will see who prevails and find out who the next Blogger on Kentucky Sports Radio will be.

Now carry on with your lives…..

I saw a couple of people asking about the Billy Gillispie call-in show. Tonight at 7 on 840. Here’s a link for the remainder of the season.

  2. CAnTuckeeBoi Says:

I am glad to see that the fans vote counted for 1/6 of the final vote. Its almost like a democracy….. WE THE PEOPLE VOTE FOR…… IT DOESNT MATTER WHO YOU VOTE FOR GEBRONY!!!!

  3. Basteballer Says:

So the boys’ club picks other people like them. Go figure.

    Screw what the readers want.

I’ve never been a naysayer on this site but it is fairly quickly losing my interest.

  4. Tyler Thompson Says:

Thanks to all those who voted for me. And to Corey, Hunter, and Chris: it was an honor to compete against you. I will continue to leave fingerprints all over the proverbial glass ceiling…

  5. buzzking Says:

    weak.

  6. bigbaldy Says:

so weak. most votes shoulda made it to the finals, at least…woman-haters. don’t you guys realize that having a woman around would bring other women around? i think there’s a connection here. i’m gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and just assume that when you guys get together, it’s all strippers and hookers, and y’all don’t think you can keep it going if you have a chick on board. OK…I understand

  7. TheStabilizer Says:

Tyler got screwed. And this is from a guy who enjoys screwing girls.

  8. TheStabilizer Says:

Give the people what they want!

And Matt, if you thought getting dates was tough before guess what now? Yard Sale Fail!

  9. CalifCatFan Says:

    Tyler wuz robbed.

  10. Beatle Bum Says:

Well, no one said this was a fan site. I also think Simon, Randy and Paula suck with their opinions.

The good ole boy network, like Kentucky Democratic politics, is protected!!!

  11. Beatle Bum Says:

But, I think Tyler is blowing some funny smoke up those boys cracks when she claims it was an honor to compete against the good ole boys!!!

    ;o)

  12. dsoco88 Says:

    Isn’t this how Gore lost???

  13. The Fake Fake Gimel Martinez Says:

Maybe someone can help me out with this. What difference does it make what the gender of the author of a blog entry? Is it more enjoyable to read a female’s takes on Kentucky Sports than a male’s? Maybe if you support Tyler you’ll have a shot with her. I don’t get it. S

he is a really good writer, but her gender has no bearing on that or how well she would do as a writer on this blog.

  14. dsoco88 Says:

    Fake Gimel,

This site already has like 5-10 Bill Simmons/Hunter S. Thompson knock off beat/blog writers….what this site does not have is a Sports Gal. Her sports outlook from the female perspective alone should give her a huge advantage. Most guys don’t want to bang chicks with out at least a picture so that was a dumb remark. I liked her cause she always brought something different and set herself apart from the pack.

  15. sure5 Says:

13)PERFECT decision…best 2 are in the finals. Breaking news for ya fellas. If the chick would have won, she wasn’t going home with ya. Male or female…the 2 best suited for this blog are in the finals. PERIOD!

  16. SlickRick48 Says:

    Lame.

  17. catfansam Says:

are we sure what type of boys club this really is? is this the one that dances to abba all night long? it must be and they must fear tyler would have won the favorite blogger contest every year…don’t they know to keep their enemies close?

  18. jrhehe2 Says:

    tyler got hosed..

  19. mattrw33 Says:

Matt, Mosley, Beisner, Tomlin, with all due respect, this is crap. Tyler’s stuff was light years ahead of the others.

  20. Rainbow_Man Says:

This contest makes American Idol look heterosexual.

  21. TheStabilizer Says:

#20 - Rainbow_Man - You have summed it up quite to the exactness deserved.

The sons of Middlesboro have come a long way throughout the years. It took many years to get to where we stand today… an incredible act of courage to do “the right thing”, up to even voting in a black president. Remarkable and unprecedented!

Then there was another decision to be made.

The mothers of Middlesboro have begun to weep from one of their best childrens bad judgement. Mrs. Jones, with ever 2 steps forward we must accept there will be a step backwards. May Matt Jones be blessed with a good excuse that he can tell while looking into your eyes for this self created hypocracy.

  22. voiceofreason Says:

I don’t see the harm in letting Tyler go head to head in the last round. Unless you guys are worried about your boy Corey. Corey is fine- except for the fact I could read his stuff and not even know he wrote it. It sound like every other entry on this site- Tyler brought something fresh- I’m surprised you guys don’t see the value in that.

  23. TayTay Says:

congrats ty, i think we all know who won! thanks for being the voice of reason at KSR evan. i dream that one day this site will have progressed far enough to include a female in the discussion. if the duke lacrosse case taught us anything its never trust a lawyer from durham.

  24. BradBleedsBlue Says:

For those who have spent the last 24 hours griping about this, I would suggest that you take a step back and think about all of the work that goes into running this site, and take into consideration that the guys who run the site have a right to do so as they see fit. No one forces you to read this blog. I personally am a dyed-in-the-wool Republican, and I agreed with literally none of Matt Jones’ commentary on the election, however, I respect his right to post whatever information he chooses on the site. And if he posted something that I didn’t like, I simply chose not to read it. Similarly, if you do not care for Corey’s posts, don’t read them. But obviously, he shares some of the same traits as the other writers on this site whose quips you read faithfully day in and day out, since he was a unanimous choice for the finals by the writers. I enjoyed Tyler’s initial entry, but my opinion is that her latter entries were not as well done and not as enjoyable as her first. The writers gave all of us collectively a vote, and although one of the candidates of the majority of the readership’s choosing failed to advane to the finals, the process was the same as in every other round of the contest, when no one complained. Accept it, move on, and if you don’t care for the items posted on the blog, don’t read them. And while you’re at it, if you have nothing better to do than to verbally assault the writers, and you think you could do a better job of running a UK sports blog, take some initiative and start your own!
