The Cats did win….and the Cards lost….and Jodie was named MVP. Thats not a bad two days to end the weekend.
And yes, I prefer to act like the football game didnt occur

It’s about time UK wins another tourney!!! Billy G is the man.
November 30th, 2008 at 8:18 pm
What football game??
November 30th, 2008 at 8:20 pm
Hey cards fans, karmas a bitch. I hate to see a humiliating loss happen to a better fanbase(sarcasm). I cant wait till they bow out in the first weekend of the ncaa tournament. They are the most overrated, over-hyped, under-achieving collegiate sports program in the land.
November 30th, 2008 at 8:20 pm
GO CATS!!
November 30th, 2008 at 8:28 pm

5, exactly
November 30th, 2008 at 8:31 pm
#5, I agree. #1. was calling for his head recently.
November 30th, 2008 at 8:31 pm
can we trade about five of those white dudes for an open scholarship for next year?
November 30th, 2008 at 8:32 pm
Looks like a bunch of happy Cats!! UT is makin a run on the Zags. The rapper Bobby Maze looks like Iverson.
November 30th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
Booby Maze should have to pass through metal detectors before entering the game.

5,6, and 7: I never “jumped” ship, I only went to the back for a while. And I don’t give a rat’s testes how you try and justify it but the VMI loss was HORRIFIC!!!!! And it won’t do us any favors in March.
November 30th, 2008 at 8:47 pm
Liggins sure has a nice grasp on the trophy. Hmm….
November 30th, 2008 at 8:48 pm
#11, LOL. #12, we won’t need favors in March.
November 30th, 2008 at 8:55 pm
Through six games, Meeks has eight assists and 31 turnovers. Unacceptable, so lay off of Porter.
November 30th, 2008 at 8:58 pm
loserville = the highest rank team in the nation to LOSE! love it!
November 30th, 2008 at 8:59 pm
did you all see where they had on ESPN2 lose-y ville???
it was awesome..hopefully someone tivo’d it or something.
November 30th, 2008 at 9:05 pm
BCG made substitutions and stuck with a group that played well: Liggins, Miller, Patterson, Meeks and (surprise) Harrelson…that was all I asked for. He put the best players on the court. Great job Cats!!
November 30th, 2008 at 9:05 pm

NOBODY and I repeat NOBODY in UK history has ever embarassed us like he did against Gardner-Webb and VMI!!!!!!! Adolph Rupp would personally fire him if he were still alive.
November 30th, 2008 at 9:09 pm
With Billy’s lack of rotation, we may never know…
Wait a minute… is that Winston Bennett in the top right?
November 30th, 2008 at 9:09 pm
Rainbow: Meeks to’s will decrease with time. Porter isn’t giving the team 26.0 per game.

November 30th, 2008 at 9:12 pm
I agree, he jumped ship
November 30th, 2008 at 9:13 pm
Haha wildeers, way to prove a point and call 12 out on the “i didnt jump ship” theory. I dont know how many times I’ve read were they have wrote Billy needs to leave, he will never succeed at UK and the list goes on and on. And 18, I think that should be the starting line up as well. Stevenson just doesnt have it right now and Harrellson is playing really well. And 15, I agree with you on that as well. Only difference, Meeks is averaging 26pts so people dont see it that way. People just love to hate on Porter, but I hope he starts improving because we need the help.
November 30th, 2008 at 9:14 pm
Ya’ll be good now. Stop Whining and watch UT get beat.

November 30th, 2008 at 9:17 pm
Great Weekend. I too am pretending the UT game didn’t happen. Great to see UK gut out a hard-fought win against WV. Are we starting to see our rotation take shape?
November 30th, 2008 at 9:18 pm

November 30th, 2008 at 9:27 pm
25. Let’s hope Meeks turnover rate decreases, because that kind of carelessness is the exact reason we’ll go one and out in the big dance. Porter’s turnovers aren’t nearly that bad.
November 30th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
you gotta love that picture…when did we last win one of these early season tourneys?

November 30th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
I just got back from Vegas. Just a few comments about the UK fans at the two games. The Cat fans were FANTASTIC! They were loud, raucous, and sometimes downright ornery. There was Kentucky Blue in about 7/8ths of the arena. They far outnumbered the Iowa, West Virginia, and Kansas State fans combined. It was like a home game. Nope, it was better than a home game as the Cat fans there in Vegas were radical. It was great fun.
November 30th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
Rainbow: it will. I don’t hate porter but, the pg sets the table for the team. Porter needs to come off bench which is an honor at UK. Meeks is aggressive and trying to make things happen. to’s will happen. Porter can’t have many to’s because the halfcourt offense begins with him. Just sayin!
November 30th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
#24, that does kind of look like Winston Bennett in the upper right of the picture….lol. Who is that?

two nights ago i was in a crowded bar in louisville full of kentucky fans, running around the place like i was billy himself.
last night i was at a friend’s house with three of my rabidly blue friends watching kentucky mount the best comeback i’ve seen in a few years.
and tonight, ohhh tonight . . . same bar, this time full of louisville fans. and it was electric, for me anyway. you could’ve heard a pin drop. it was wonderful.
November 30th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
The best part about this is that we are going to improve as the season goes along.
Liggins, Miller, and Harrelson will all get better and especially cut back on mistakes and stupid turnovers. If we can get the turnovers down in the low teens or(gasp!) single digits we will be a very tough team to beat.
Another amazing thing is that it usually takes the defense longer to come around then the offense, so once the offense comes around we will really surprise some people!
November 30th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
38) 1996 is the last time we won a preseason tourney. My question is when is the last time we had 2 players with a double double in the same game.
November 30th, 2008 at 9:56 pm
47) The last time Kentucky had two players record double-doubles was Patrick Patterson and Perry Stevenson against Stony Brook on Nov. 27, 2007.
November 30th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
15.) he also has 153 points … lay off of meeks …. also porter is the starting point guard and is 3rd on the team in assists 6th in steals and 8th in points, all while having a negative assist to turnover ratio.
Thanks
By the way those of you who can tell me that they honestly thing BCG coached us to a tourney win then I seriously need an explanation. He is going to be a good coach, and I think he will lead us to a National Title one day, but right now he is simply a decent coach, a great recruiter, and a better than average motivator.
November 30th, 2008 at 9:59 pm

November 30th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
just read the previous comments of billyclyde4president posted by wildeers. this is the type of fan that really hurts our program. it’s really pathetic and shameful and cowardly to call for a coaches head when he loses and then get behind him when he’s successful.
November 30th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
So 49 if we lose it is all because of coaching, but if we win its all because of the players?

49)Cantuckeeboi I am going to bed so I dont have time to argue but I would love to know your coaching expertise. I think we won because he coached a very good game. Substitution patterns(Meeks, Patterson), some good play calling late(not much early). What exactly would he have to have doen to say he did a good job coaching in that game?
What is your coaching experience?
Sorry, no arguments, but I will read your response in the morning.
November 30th, 2008 at 10:06 pm
Great call Rainbow, Porter is definately better than Meeks (rolls eyes)…
November 30th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
54, agreed . . .
when meeks and patterson got in foul trouble last night, what happened? gillispie subbed them in and out masterfully, and neither one of them ended up fouling out.
how many louisville players fouled out today for legendary coach rick pitino’s number three ranked team?
November 30th, 2008 at 10:07 pm

November 30th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
oh, also, from ukathletics.com “Patrick Patterson recorded his fourth double–double of the season and the 10th of this career. It was also the third straight for the sophomore. The last time a Wildcat recorded three straight double-doubles was Randolph Morris in the 2006-07 season on March 8 (vs. Alabama), March 9 (vs. Mississippi State) and March 16 (vs. Villanova).”
November 30th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
and, haha, “The last time a Wildcat hit 12 free throws in a game was Ramel Bradley on Nov. 7, 2007 against Gardner-Webb.”

Did anyone notice how terrible the announcers for the football game were?
i think Liggins will be a man on a mission the next couple games out. he is proving to coach that he is better than porter and deserves to start. i dont doubt his heart. only talent will tell…
November 30th, 2008 at 10:27 pm
I am amazed and saddened honestly by the attacks on the Coach. There was a large percentage of us asking for Tubby to go but it was after TEN years. Yes, he didn’t start like this but he came in to a loaded deck. What BCG came into was closer to what Pitino was faced with and he lost to some teams early that made you shake your head. The player’s that we have left from Tubby are not good enough to win in the OVC. Porter is terrible, Harris can’t dribble, and Stephenson is as soft as hot butter. Meeks is really good but he is the only player left that can contribute to a winning program just 18 months after Tubby left. I don’t want to get into a Tubby debate but the facts are the facts.
We will win this year with BCG recruits and Meeks period. Next year we get several more BCG recruits and on and on….
November 30th, 2008 at 10:34 pm
66 my thoughts exactly. i don’t understand why a lot of our fans are too dumb to see it this way. we’re going to be at the top again but people forget how far we fell by the time tubby left.
November 30th, 2008 at 11:10 pm

November 30th, 2008 at 11:29 pm
70) All you need to know about the recruiting situation is that in the end of Tubby’s tenure, we were no longer feared. Tubby was not recruting major contributors of SEC caliber, and the vaunted 04 class, well, Joe only became consistent in his senior year, Rondo never fit Tubby’s offense, and Morris took three years to become noticeable to NBA scouts. Tubby was a great guy, but his best years were 98 and 03.
Compare to what we’ve been hearing from recruits the last couple years. We’ve been on every big name recruit’s list, and while we’re missing on a lot of big names, we’ve got back-to-back Mr. Kentucky’s (Miller now, Hood next year), Patterson (no guarantee he comes if Tubby stays), Orton, Ferguson, etc. Players are now saying, “When Kentucky calls, you listen.” Previously, a lot of kids respected the name Tubby Smith, but not so many really wanted to come play for him.
From what I hear, Tubby’s recruting better up North now, but he just wasn’t feeling it here. He was tired of the spotlight. The talent he brought in was chafing and not developing. Every announcer in the country says our talent level isn’t where it should be. You can’t blame that one one full year of recruiting for Gillispie (when he came in, he had 2 commitments, and just a couple of schollies to work with, and one had to go to Patterson if he wanted it). This won’t fully be Gillispie’s team for another year or two. Until then, it’s partially Tubby’s talent, as coached by Billy.
November 30th, 2008 at 11:33 pm
