2013 recruit Chris Walker loves expressing his feelings on the Twitter machine, and he did it again this afternoon. Walker tweeted, “UK not interested in me so ill do the same when they get interested I will also.” Walker then added that Kentucky is in his top ten but not his top three.
Walker is Scout.com’s No. 3 power forward in the class. Rivals ranks him as the eighth best player overall in the class.
He’s tweeted about Kentucky many, many times before.

Hey cut him some slack, we don’t know what kind of line of communication he’s had/hasn’t had with our coaches. I love the idea of him being in Lex Vegas, I just hope he will be PATIENT – 2013 is a ways off.

Obviously Cal has someone else he prefers at this point. But it could change so be careful what you say now. This kid might end up at UK and those that are throwin off on him now, could be buyin his jersey one day.

I thought I read that he had a lot of work to do if he wanted to get qualified . If thats the case Cal would be crazy to make him a top priority .

I don’t see why everyone’s saying he’s whining. I’ve followed him for awhile and he LOVES UK. Probably sucks to be rated as high as he is and not get an offer from his school of choice.

8…of course you are right in a sense.
But I tend to think that if you are going to post / tweet something like that…you should expect repurcussions from the fan base of the team your aggravated with. Now, the coaches can’t do it and fans don’t need to come unglued with hateful comments either. But…he doesn’t need love & kisses as well -while we say his attitude is accepted. ya know?
He might need to know he’s but a fish in a bowl and not the top shark.

Listen up folks he is a kid and one who happens to absolutely love UK. A good example is the way many people act over a high school romance. They fall head over hills and then turn crazy if their crush doesn’t show them love and attention. While there may be better I kind of enjoy seeing a recruit share the same passion as us fans. Cal has said many times it takes a particular recruit to play here and I think this sort of shows he wants the spotlight.
Problem is he’s a PF and so is Randle. Randle is número UNO bar none. Cal will take him after Julius signs so it doesn’t work against us.

He probably didn’t list UK in his top three in his recent interview because he doesn’t have an offer from them. Then, he probably received 50,000 hate emails and tweets from UK fans which prompted his back the *$%#OFF tweets which say . . . “i’d kill to play at UK if they want me.”

Our fanbase is the one that needs to grow up. HE is the KID!!! Can you not do as you should, and ignore his tweets? You make us all look bad. This is the kind of vitriol that will drive some people away from the program. How can you not realize you are not helping? (1) Punk? Really? We know who the punk is.

If he’s that good, and Cal isn’t pursuing him, I can only assume the kid has some sort of baggage. Otherwise, Cal doesn’t think he’s as good as his rating.

#15= So says the adult who is doing exactly what he says adults won’t do. Folks need to act like they have been here before..not too long ago we aould have loved to have any top 10 player interested..and couldn’t land them. This is way above all our paygrades..let the coaching staff take care of business..thats what they get paid for..he’s a good kid..if he comes he will be welcome..if not wish him the best of luck.

He’s just a kid. I do think his rents or coach need to cue him into how many people read these tweets.
Otherwise if Cal takes him, hes going to have a crash course in moderation of tweets a la Jorts.

I don’t tweet anyway and I wouldn’t personally to him or any kid. —but I do think that these kids as I mentioned above don’t need to expect love/kisses and the fan base to turn the cheek to comments they just throw out there. Again, nothing hateful because they are kids. -seriously. But hey…you talk a lil trash or dish on us…we gonna let you know your not Gods Gift (no pun intended).

Maybe Walker gets an offer, but he has to stand in line behind Julius Randle. It’s that simple. Randle is high on UK. Randle is better.
Walker is very talented, but Randle is the type of talent who can come in and be a 1st team AA as a freshman. You don’t put yourself at a huge disadvantage recruiting a guy like that, who might be leaning your direction, by taking a commitment from another top 10 PF. Best thing Walker can do is improve his game, and establish himself as being a near-equal to Randle over the next 9 months, in which case it’s very hard for UK to put him on the backburner.
If he’s not willing to do that, then too bad. UK will get by just fine without him.

I do not necessarily think he’s a “punk.” Some of us would do well to remember how we acted at 17-18 years old.
The real problems here are the Facebook and twitter talking machines that are available to the younger generation these days. And that’s a shame, in a way. This generation and those that follow it will never get to make mistakes and learn from them without the threat of serious, lasting repercussions the way a lot of us here did.

A lot of these kids apparently get nonstop attention from certain coaches so they expect it from every coach.
Walker, if Cal wants you, he’ll come tell you when the time is right. Not before. Not on a daily basis like a desperate bottomfeeding program.
38) Too many people baby these young men. When he turns 18, he’s old enough to vote, marry, serve in the military, go to jail, etc. And some of them will be making millions of dollars when they’re 19. People need to start treating these “kids” like adults. Maybe if they did, there’d be less problems with them in college and with their finances when they go pro. They’d learn some responsibility and mature behavior.
Not saying Walker’s immature — I don’t know him — but people around here and elsewhere need to stop acting like “mistakes” and whining are normal for these “kids.” It’s called stunting their emotional development.

What Walker should be saying to himself is “Why isn’t the best coach on the best team in America NOT recruiting me?” Step your game up maybe. Get your grades up maybe. I don’t care what “Rivals” or “Scout” says, i’ll trust the best recruiter the NCAA has seen in 40 years on how good a player is…

There is a reason Cal hasnt showed much interest in this kid and it’s because of things like this. He has showed how immature he is, talks way too much, and seems to play games. Exact reasons why he stopped recruiting players like Q Miller, T Wroten and R Purvis. Cal does not want immature guys. And if this kid is wantin this much attention from Cal now, imagine how he would be at UK with players just as good or better than him. I can see him as a pouter and Cal doesnt want any part of that. Is he talented? No doubt. But where people dont give Cal another credit is his recruitment of character as well. People need to lay off callin the kid a punk, but immature is definitely it. He seems like he needs to go somewhere that he can be the man.

Personally I think we should take it as a compliment when the higher ranked recruits are upset that we aren’t offering. I’ll take that any day over settling for the scraps at the end of every season.

45, if you follow recruiting and UK basketball at all, you would know that about Walker. As well as knowing that about the other guys I mentioned. It doesnt take someone with telepathy to know that, just someone with a brain…guess that disqualifies you.

47 Your analysis is “Doug Gottleib-ish” at best. It seems in all your theoretical ANALysis you’ve forgotten one WHO DID Come to UK without so much as a visit and was considered to have a far more questionable character than any of all the names you mentioned- Demarcus Cousins. Cal helped this young man tremendously and he is beloved by the Big Blue faithful. So much for your deep insight.

I would love to know why exactly Cal hasn’t offered or at least shown more love. I’m not questioning his reasons, I just am curious as to why. Some have suggested it’s b/c he wants Randle more, but how to explain that he has offered Derek Willis already?
