If you had $16 million dollars, what would you with it? The poindexters of the world would likely invest their dowry into some solid mutual funds or maybe a hot IPO or two. Then there are those who elect to spend their wealth on exotic jungle animals (Mikey T) and good lawyers (Juice.Tyson, not so much). Others may opt to quit their jobs and retire to a life of bass fishing and The Price is Right (me). Then there is insanely wealthy Irish horseman, Demi O’Byrne (did I mention Irish?). O’Byrne set a new world record in check size and stupidity today at the Fasig-Tipton thoroughbred sale in Florida. O’Byrne paid, you guessed it, $16 mil. for a 2-year old colt out of the sire Forestry. Putting that much stew into anything that can’t speak, much less give a lapdance, is quite ballsy. Don’t be surprised if O’Byrne names his next horse Chapter 11.
