Kentucky native needs the BBN’s help to make the MLB All-Star Game

You’re looking at Stevie Delabar, an Elizabethtown, Kentucky native and relief pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays. Delabar is in the running for the last spot on the American League team, which is determined by fan vote. He’s currently in the lead, but needs the BBN’s help to ensure he reaches his ultimate dream of playing in the All-Star game next week at Citi Field. Yankees fans are making a late push in support of David Robertson, and have narrowed the lead significantly.

Delabar is also a huge UK fan with a remarkable comeback story. A severe elbow injury at 27 forced him to retire and become a substitute teacher and assistant coach at John Hardin High School, where he created the Velocity Training Program to help young pitchers. His velocity increased from around 87 to the mid-90s, which caught the eyes of the Seattle Mariners, who gave him another chance.

Watch his story in this HBO Sports clip:

You just made the BBN aware of the poll. He will now win.

I have had the pleasure of meeting Stevie. He came back from a horrific arm injury, worked his tail off and now has a shot to be in AllStar game. Best of all he’s from KY and a member of BBN!! Vote for Stevie!!!

  3. mudcreekmark

That is a great story but it would have been nice if you would have given us his stats for the year so we can see why we should vote for him besides him being from Kentucky.

  4. #raisethebar

He is 5-1 with a 1.75 ERA with 57 Strike Outs so far this season with the Blue Jays.

Innings pitched41.1 hits allowed 29 stikeouts 57 era 1.74 he is 5-1 with one save and 4 holds. You’re welcome.

Voted a few times. Nice that they make that easy now. Good luck to him.

We help him get to the All-Star game, maybe he’ll help us land Matt Elam!

Here is an interactive map of the voting. Let’s see if we can turn KY light green:

#5 His stats are irrelevent. Hes a member of BBN so its our job to support him. He could have a 27.00 ERA and we’d still be trying to get him in. Thanks for your pointless research though.

Wow. It’s really dusty in here.

his dad resembles BCG! but vote for him anyways!

  12. Linda Taylor

They will let you vote over and over again so let’s get this for him BBN!

  13. The Loco Pollo

You should also note that he struck out 4 batters in 1 inning last year! Impressive.

  14. Chris

Blue Jays fan myself, have been voting for days. The Blue Jays’ fanbase is strong as well, multiple people voting 5,000+ times. I’d be surprised if he doesn’t win, especially with BBN behind him too.

Stevie is a great dude with a great story. Not only all that, but he really is dominating this year. Just goes to show, you never know. Vote for Stevie as much as possible! #RaiseTheBar

Voting for Stevie from Korea (and I’m a Tigers fan; I won’t hold it against you that you struck out Hunter-Cabrera-Fielder to retire the side a couple weeks ago!). Make BBN proud, Stevie!

  17. Not Dan Issel

    He’s in!! Now official.
