There might be no one walking this fine planet who has heaped more hyperbole on UK freshman point guard John Wall than yours truly. I’d feel guilty about it if I wasn’t 100% confident that it was deserved and that he’s destined to be a college and NBA superstar. Dime Magazine, however, sees my hype and kicks it up a notch. They’ve rated the top 10 point guards of the past season and ranked Mr. Wall at #5, just behind Chauncey Billups, former Cat Rajon Rondo, Derrick Rose and Tony Parker. The author makes it clear that it’s not necessarily a ranking of the best players of the past season, instead choosing to rank them based on overall impact on the game at their level or their overall season. It seems like a pretty pointless list I guess but it’s never a bad sign to see Wall’s name ranked ahead of Chris Paul and Deron Williams.
