Couple of Quick Updates

My post went up a bit early today so I missed being able to toss these quick things in there. I had a quick discussion with Kyrie this morning as well as a discussion with a source very close to the Tobias Harris recruitment. Here’s a couple quick updates:

– First I want to give credit to Zag’s Blog for getting the scoop on Kyrie cutting his list down to six. The list is now at UK, Duke, IU, Georgia Tech, UConn and Seton Hall. Check out this link, click on the player in the top right corner. Kyrie had initially said that he was going to cut his list down to 5 after the Boost Game but now says it will just be this cut to 6. I talked to him and specifically asked if there would be any more cuts and he says that he won’t be making anymore cuts for right now…as of right now. He’s always led me to believe that UK will be getting an official visit and had told me last week that UK fans wouldn’t be disappointed in the cut he had planned for this weekend. That leads me to believe that UK wasn’t one of the “last two” schools that Kyrie had a problem cutting, which led him to not cut it to 5. I would say that UK, Duke, Indiana and Seton Hall were the four that easily made it, while Georgia Tech and UConn were the two schools causing him problems. When the next cut comes, I would expect one of those two schools to be the odd man out. That is, of course, assuming that Kyrie plans on eventually narrowing the list to five for official visits. If not, I could see Kyrie just taking officials to the first 4 schools and, if a decision isn’t made after those, then making the tough decision on where to take his last official. I’d be pretty surprised if it came to that though. A smart bet would be placed on Kyrie committing to one of the first four.

– Secondly, if you remember from earlier this week, I had a discussion with Torrel Harris about UK’s scheduled in-home visit with his son, Tobias, on September 9th. That discussion led me to believe that UK was in a pretty good spot with Tobias. Last night, I spoke with another source that is very close to the Tobias recruitment and this source assured me that UK would be making all the cuts for Tobias and will eventually get an official visit from Tobias. The source, who is extremely solid, also told me that UK was in the top couple of schools, if not at the very top at the moment. What this means is that the UK visit impressed the Harris family so much that, barring some crazy happening, like Coach Cal letting a silent but deadly one slip in the Harris family living room during the in-home visit, UK will be in it until the end. Just a little good news that I thought I would pass along to you guys to get the weekend started off right.

– Lastly, 2010’s sharpshooter Justin Martin told the Indy Star that he plans on taking an official visit to UK, Marquette and Xavier. He has offers from Depaul and Oregon State. He mentioned West Virginia as well but added that neither UK nor WVU has extended an offer yet.

More to come later through the weekend. It’s a very busy time around campus right now and also in NYC at the Boost Mobile Event. This is my last weekend before I have to get back into my law school duties, which really isn’t gonna change anything so don’t worry, but in between all my last second partying, I’ll keep you guys updated on all the recruiting goodness.

I enjoy basketball, Kentucky sports and extremely short walks on the beach, followed by a nap. Sorry ladies, I'm taken.

    4. Is it ironic that Kansas has the highest percentage of any state to vote no?

Darrel Arthur can get the Kansas vote changed, don’t worry about it.
