A Fact to Put Things into Perspective

We have been saying for awhile the state of the Kentucky football program might be at an all time high. The Kentucky football Twitter account confirmed these opinions with this tweet:

Sure, the SEC East is not a good division, but this is still something that we need to be proud of this team for accomplishing. If I would have told you this stat in 2011, would you have believed me? What about 2014? I know I wouldn’t have believed it. We, as fans, need to enjoy this period in Kentucky football. This is the beginning of the future of what will become a perennial power in the SEC East. I am confident of that. Kentucky football will be in an SEC Championship game within the next five years. I guarantee it.

Sam, do you really suppose the rest of the East is going to be this bad for the next 5 years? Seriously?

    Wow…

Game changing mistakes + breakdown in fundamentals + big loss = progress affirmation articles on Sunday.

When will the Stoops haters quit? At least with each loss there are reasons… I’ll take lapses in execution as a problem any day over larger fundamental problems within a program. At least then you know its just a matter of time before they start executing. UK could be sitting at 9 wins right now, which is not hyperbole to consider. Been a long time since we could sniff that. The program overall is stronger, which means the team hasn’t been reliant on a flash-in-the-pan superstar to get us fluke wins we can’t repeat next year.

I can remember not too long ago (starting in 2012) when UK’s back-to-back seasons were 2 wins each. The next pair of back-to-back seasons were 5 wins each. The next pair (including this year) are at least 7 wins each. Sounds like an upwards trend to me!

I don’t understand the “do you think everyone in the east will be this bad next year” argument. Do you not think Kentucky will also improve? Sure, the quality of the east was not as good as it’s been, but we’re making great strides and there is no reason to think we won’t continue to make these strides in the coming years.

Hey I have some ocean front property for sale here in KY! The biggest thing that has improved is Stoops and his assistants getting bigger pay checks.

The same people complaining about winning seven will be complaining if they win 9 or 10. Negative people gonna be negative people. Enjoy the winning. Stoops strategy to recruit north instead of the south is a winning strategy. Kids from all over the country want to play in the SEC.

The thing I like to see most, is our level of recruiting. Look at who we used to have to beat out for recruits, in the past, and now look at who we have to beat out for a recruit. I enjoy watching the team play. Fix some of the execution issues, and we can / should be able to upset a few teams going forward. I think Stoops is the right person for the job, and think the program will continue to be on the rise.
